Just a thought - why was this heard by Harborough Magistrates? The banning does seem to be totally disproportionate - I think she should think about spending a penny or two appealing that part of the sentence, although a new outfit, a change of name and a season-ticket in a different part of the ground may be cheaper and have a more successful outcome.

Why wasn't the bloke who was trying to sell his season ticket in court for conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace? Very easy to prove, I would have thought. Tosser!
Football is a game fueled by passion, we could ALL be guilty of breaching the peace at a game of football.

If I punched the person in front of me twice for expressing his dissatisfaction at the teams performance, I would expect to be banned. I don't care if she was black, white, disabled, old, young, dead, male or female. What she did is wrong and totally against what football clubs are trying to achieve

I'm not arguing about her conviction, but if it is true that he called her "a ****ing disabled old cow" that is 'conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace' - he should have been prosecuted for it.

I'm on about his passion not hers, and did he call her that name before or after the assault?

frair enough you cant hit people at football, but banning orders were actually introduced to stop pottential trouble makers (hooligans) from attending games. it seems to me that this woman has indeed been dealt with a little harshly, she isnt a football hooligan and is very unlikely to cause trouble in the future, this is usually taken into account in casses like these. as for not being aloud to travel abroad when england are playing, well that is a foooking joke.

yes its not right to punch or whatever she did but every case should be dealt with individually. i know people who have gotten away with more serious things at football so this conviction seems to be a joke compared.

and going to a football match suffering from agoraphobia, come on give me a break. Shes a feckin nutter by the sounds of it. I am afriad if someone punched me twice, it would have been my collar the OB would have felt.

Spot on. The geezer that ran onto the pitch and confronted Ian Walker, didn't actually assault anybody and he had his ticket taken off him. If the old bird had done the same and had her ticket taken off her, you would all be saying it was an injustice.

She commited a serious offence. Any sort of violence is not tolerated at football matches. Correct decision

she would not have been able to confront Ian Walker, remember her condition..... if she had it would have been heralded as a miracle cure

I'm not sure it's relevant when he said it. It is still conduct likely to cause a breach of the paace.

So is the way most people behave in a football stadium.

Yup - lock us all up!!! :098:

Seriously though, I think there is a difference between foul-and-abusive language that is shouted to nobody in particular - just out into the air, as we all do - and foul-and-abusive language that is directed from close quarters at somebody nearby.

And I see that Mr Hill, the poor lamb, had to go the Infirmary for a check-up the following day. Sounds like he shouldn't be out on his own!

If you listened to most people at a match, they all shout abuse. To the ref, opposition supporters and to fellow fans. Its a way of life down there. If she does not like it, she can feck off....

Well she does not have a choice now....:icon_bigg

He needed to go so as his insurance claim would look better. :icon_wink

I'm not saying lock us all up, I'm saying he can't be accused of breaching the peace at a game of football because we all do it.

If he was to walk around Tesco's singing "The Referee's a wanker" then yes, but at a football match he is entitled to shout his opnion without Nora fookin Batty clobbering him.

Yes, I agree, he does appear to be playing the wounded soldier a tad too much, and if I was him and nobody saw it, I wouldn't report it, I'd just trip the nutter up on her way down the stairs!!

well she did twat him, but the thing that makes me laugh is that he has to live with the thought he was beaten up by a disabled old woman from Corby who suffered from agrophobia.... will he ever live that down. It must have been one hell of an insurance payout...

not only that, but trying to rip people off for £50 for it.....clearly a case of extortion & should be reported as a breach of fair trading.
