The old board probably looked at it like this:

Newell? Nah - he scared TD with his steely eyes...
Davies? Nah - he would cost too much money - best not risk it..
Cotterill? Nah - he's already been manager hasn't he?
Holloway? Nah - Not sure who he is...

I personally think we've got to look beyond these three at the moment. I think the bloke at colchester has done an excellent job for them with a tiny club and no money.

He did inherit a good squad and ethic from Parkinson though

Also the squad were on a high following promotion, the real challenge will be next season when they are a effectively an established championship team, expectation will increase and they will no longer provide the element of surprise, also a few of their better players will be targets for bigger clubs in the summer.

Give it to Chris Coleman. Kept a small team in the premier for several seasons. Had an average amount of money and bought some decent players. Also had to sell his big stars to survive. Coleman for City!

Wot about Clarke no2 at Chelsea or has MM set his sights too high

I can't begin to understand why we would be setting our sights too high with Clarke. He has achieved nothing as a manager and would be a big risk IMO.

Coleman is a definite no no :018: ! 1 away win in each of the past 2 seasons says everything!

So does Premiership safety with points to spare four seasons in a row without spending much money and having his best players sold from underneath him.

I agree and I can't see why he would leave his cushy job in London and risk everything with us...

Coleman for me. Kept them in the premiership with no money and with his best players sold from under his feet. Ince, too much of a risk. Worthington, steady and has bought on some good players in the past, would be an unadventurous choice.

So NW has got the players fired up?....like v Norwich and Bham? we did good vPNE but so did Kelly last year for a lot more games. I think NW would be a safe bet but MM would sack him by Xmas id go for one of the others, probably favouring Coleman with Lenny as player/assistant

Why is Lennon suddenly going to be a great coach, what are his credentials, what exectly has he done so far in this line of work. For what we have to do next year we need a proven management team that will realise the club's ambitions. There is no time for sentiment, Lennon was then, gone, history, we need to be dealing with the reality of next season, and I'm sorry but that just ain't him.
