Renewal/review/etc call it what you will, but at some point it should discussed.

If RK his happy being on a one year contract then good luck to him. I personally wouldn't have allowed myself to sign an ongoing contract like that. At some point I would want to open myself up to negotiations for a longer permanent contract.

I would have stipulated that my 1 year rolling contract was subject to review after my first year in charge.

Loads of managers across the leagues are now on rolling contracts - it limits the liability of the club to one year's salary if they want to get rid, so it makes good sense all round

I remember MON saying a contract was worthless (and he proved that) and I believe Stuart Pearce in without a formal contract (although a verbal contract is recognised)

Can't think of a manager who's contract was allowed to run out

Surely if a contract "always has a year to run", it is essentially a permanent contract. Like all permanent contracts it can be terminated, but only with substantial severance - as someone pointed out this would probably be a year's salary.

Newts are you implying that once Mandaric is here, then that very nice man and extremely good coach Rob Kelly is to be replaced as manager :102:

If so any chance of a PM on who will replace him, cheers mate.

His contract is not up for renewal, and even if he was on a normal fixed length contract of one year, rather than a rolling one, it wouldn't be finishing tomorrow because he didn't officially become manager a year ago, he was caretaker at first.

But at some point it is up for renewal, and I suspect that it is after 1 year with RK, but only a guess. And as you have rightly pointed out Jeff, it was much later in the year that he was employed as manager

Why is it 'up for renerwal'?

At any point either party should be able to say they don't want to continue with the rolling aspect of the contract and convert it to a normal fixed length contract having a year to run, or the club might decide they want to offer him different terms (maybe a longer contract and more money if he's doing well for example). But if they do this there's no reason why it should be on the anniversary of the start of the contract, it can happen at any time.

if you all remeber we talked about RK rolling contract before and i carnt remeber where it came up but some one not me did post that there was a bit in the contract that if thing where not going well RK would step down:102:

A-Z mate from what has been said and quoted in the press/ internet forums and the FT that MM could bring in a new manger with RK going back to coaching , i just thought to myself that his year is almost up (that bits for jeff :icon_roll :icon_bigg ) and would be reviwed after each year .

so if RK dose step down when the deal is rubber stamped then he would have a new contract and would think he would not get a year pay as he could stay with the club ,but if he walks away your dead right we would have to pay him a year but as has been said before thats better than a long contract pay out :102:

I don't even want RK as Coach, he has not done one single thing to prove he is worthy of the role

RK out of this club. We can't afford to sink while he learns his trade

melts mate ive seen him and worked with him when he was coaching and he is top hole on that role mate
Sorry Newts but that's bollox.

I don't know him but I know this:

Gareth Williams
Stephen Hughes
Andy Johnson
Matty Fryatt
Momo Sylla
Danny Tiatto
Richard Stearman
Paddy McCarthy

Are all playing like a bunch of cnuts and well below par. The one who is playing to the best of his ability at the minute is Nissa, and he's disappeared.

If RK is to be Coach, he should have had these players playing, but he hasn't. He may have coached at the top, but he isn't there any more is he?, and for abloody good reason

Melts and Newts are rowing. Fact.
We're debating on a friendly level. Nothing more, nothing less. Swapping opinions to benefit from each others wisdom :icon_lol:

so from what your saying it's not Rk that at fault due to him being manager now and not the coach so there for it must be the first team coaches fault the two roles are totaly differant you know :icon_bigg :icon_wink

No, I'm referring to when RK was the coach working for Levein

but then he was still not coaching as such he was CL number 2 :icon_wink
So he can't take responsibilty for the shit coaching back then because he was the coach and not the manager. But he can't take responsibilty for the shit coaching now because he's the manager and not the coach.:102:

This Rob Kelly geezer is laughing all the way to the bank then really aint he, no wonder he hasn't walked :icon_lol:
