SHERIDAN PICKS WRIGHT MAN.

New Oldham boss John Sheridan has appointed Tommy Wright as his assistant at Boundary Park.

The former Republic of Ireland midfielder has been handed his head in management following the sacking of Ronnie Moore at the end of the season.

Sheridan is well aware of Wright's capabilities as he played with him at Leeds United in the eighties and also worked with him at Oldham, where the pair were coaches.

"I always said that if I went into management I would take him with me,'' Sheridan told the club's official website.

"He has a terrific record at bringing young players through at this club and, like myself, is very excited about the future.
"I can trust Tommy completely and he will be a good man to have on my side. He knows the game inside out and is an excellent coach."

It might be, I remember seeing Tommy Wright play for Doncaster in the Conference against Kettering. He whacked two goals in and the fan were 'ooo Tommy Wright-ing' all match.

Last I know about him was that he was at King's Lynn with Paul Ramsey and another one, Tony Spearing I think. This was about 2000.

Yes, it is. He was at Leeds from 1983 - 1986.

All this talk of the original Tommy Wright has led me to dig out my 1991/1992 season review video. The first season I was a regular at Filbo and OOOHH Tommy Wright was my first favourite player.
