found this from a Brentford fan that posted on the MK dons site :icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

Sorry to tell you guys but Martin Allen is doing exactly what he did last year with us. A few crowd pleasing transfers out, "Martins Updates" on the OS etc.

Wait till you see him on the touchline with his backroom staff, he's truly inspirational.

Unfortunately after about 4 months you'll realise that he isn't actually very good at managing a football team. You'll start hanging on to 1-0 leads before chucking them away in the last 10 minutes, the term "hoofball" will be the constant topic of conversation on the message boards, and god help you if you get to the playoffs.

One tip if he comes out with something like " I sat outside the stadium in my car with a tear in my eye thinking about the year ahead" towards the end of the season, he's off!!

A Brentford fan came onto our forum and told us all this a year ago and we didn't believe him either.

Good luck, you'll need it.

i hope he's ferking wrong ,carnt take anymore season like the last 3-4

allen never had any money to work with at MK dons or brentford so hopefully he can prove them wrong and play a different kind of style with better players. in the lower leagues they always play hoofball its the only thing they know.

I think it was posted by a MKD fan, not a Brentford fan. He says at the ens that a Brentford fan had had a similar message for them the previous year.

Until MA has put together his squad and played a few games to bed them in, we cannot judge as to the style of his team. What I do find odd about this post is the suggestion that Ma's teams are unable to hold on to wins. Inevitably, there will be times when this happens but, if he can repeat the record of his previous clubs at Leicester, we will find ourselves at the other end of the table to that at which we seem to have become attached.

agreed but the fact its happen to the main two teams he's been at is the bit that got us thinking and like you have said too we have bad times trying to hold onto wins

He has certainly not failed to please the crowd with the tranferslistings and the updates. He has already become popular, let's see how it lasts.

a long time i hope and he proves to be the new MON, for our club and more to the point for us we've had enough to put up with over the past few years ,well done to us all for getting here now its been a long time coming i feel this could be our year :038::038:

the year of the fox :icon_lol:

the other thing is that Martin Allen can't play to hang on to a victory cause he knows what MM is like and he knows that Milan isn't scared to fire you on the spot, i think the way MA has handled things so far is truely great, he has even brought in a experience a head of him in don mackay, he has the money now for transfer so i dont think he will be looking to play the hoof ball and milan isnt going to allow hoof ball football at leicester again

I think that the only similarity is their first names and both have managed Leicester City.

I will hazard a guess that Martin Allen is in the job mainly to stir things up and inparticular turn round the composition of the squad....on the basis that it will take a fierce sort of bloke to shake things up. I somehow doubt whether he is premiership managerial material and presumably Milan would be looking to bring in premiership quality players at that stage - and probably a differnebt manager.

All the above is based on things working out. On the credit side players are being shipped out in quantity which was badly needed....whether signing residual injury prone strikers like Carl Cort - who undoubtedly has shown ability but never achieved that much - will be any use, i don't know.

We will see PLENTY of hoofball at the Walkers next season. Let's be realistic - Milan's only concern is to get promoted. The reason he wants to do this is so he can make a fat profit. In order to get promoted we will have to climb the league. He has brought in a mananger that has a winning track record and nobody will want to change that. This manager has a reputation for playing some hoofball. It's how he has got success before. Again, nobody wants him to fail. Ergo: hoofball it will be IMO. Which is fine by me as long as it is WINNING hoofball!

Yes, Milan's a nice guy. Yes, he knows how to play to the crowd. Yes, he does indeed know his football. And yes, I believe he genuinely cares about Leicester City to some extent.

But he will NOT be getting all misty-eyed about playing total football - he will be getting misty-eyed about the enormous bag of cash waiting for three lucky clubs next May....

Take a look at what happened to brentford after he left, I think we will see a massive improvement during his time here, wether or not it leads to the premiership I am not so confident about but I expect we will be top 8.

Absolutely. His record so far is of high achievement..... Let's hope this can step up. Craig Levine also had a good record....
