Historically, with the exception of the Coalville area, the City and County have never been strongholds of Association football - back in the day, most of the talented sporty kids at my comp in the late 1960s early 1970s were eggchasers to a man, looking at the Tigers' production line of talent over the last 30 years against the Academy - no comparison.
We're Leicester, we feed on the unconsidered or the overlooked, whether Scottish coal miners (60s), show ponies put out to grass (70s), journeymen with points to prove (90s), or Frenchies submerged in Ligue 2. Even some of the brainless ventures we have made into the upper reaches of the transfer market recently don't change the basic need to be quick witted and see ability in the bargain bin.
That said, our Academy return over the years has been OK, and at least we never offered Sasha Lenhart a contract.
