He was out in Nottingham last night. I spoke with him for a few minutes about goings on at the club.

I asked him about benji, he said the club paid 3 months of his remaining 6 months. He said they have no money at all to bring in new players and that De Vries and Maybury were brought in on next seasons budget. We spoke about scowy, and he said that he's the one they need to get rid of. The club was gutted when Norwich opted for Ashton, because they had received an offer of £200k which they had accepted. His remaining 6 months is worth about £400k in wages, so he said to lose out on £600k was a blow and thats why they had to use next seasons budget for De Vries and Maybury.

maybe forest are signing mace

Interesting. I think it brings a touch of realism on the value of Scowcroft - 200k was a very good offer indeed from Norwich for someone who is
apparantly otherwise impossible to offload on a free. Pity it didn't go through. Looks like a cup run is desparately needed - the club looks to me on the edge of serious difficulty again. Let's hope that we pick up when the mass of poor performers who are becoming out of contract - are off loaded.

Don't see why. Most of the high earners have gone, and those that we still have will soon be gone. Granted we have no money but its not like we have serious debt. The club should be in a far better position than 2 yrs ago

£400K for 6 months is nearly £67,000 a week! Surely not?! Elliot is only on £32,000 a week.

Er didnt you study maths at school.

Assuming that the 6 months are all made up of 4 week blocks ( I know some have 5 etc but stick with me)

400k divided by 24 weeks = £16666. something per week

Ooops! Soz! Must be that light-headed feeling thst comes from winning two games in a row!

the bit that doesn't impress me is where we've supposedly spent some of NEXT year's money on Maybury and De Vries.

this is what happened with Taylor...spending the following seasons earnings before we'd even earnt them!! and then we never finished in the position they expected us to which is why it started to go pear-shaped.

agreed. but i don't like seeing resemblances with the previous board.

The current board isn't like the past, certainly Tim as the main man is numbers driven.

They are still doing deals to end contracts early + trying very hard to acheive more departures

forgive me for being concerned IF they are spending next seasons budget already.
i'll be honest and say that there have been a few things happen in the last couple of seasons which haven't endeared the current staff to me or people i know.
although in recent months it does seem as if they are doing their best to keep customer relations good.

i know.

thing is i'm pi$$ed off with this ST malarky.

i manage to save enough up to May to pay for my ST. there's no way i can pay for it in March(even though i would like to) cos i've got away games etc to pay for!! if i didn't go away games i'd be one of the first down there renewing early. so because my priority is the away games of THIS season not next year ST i feel like i'm being penalised.

and i want to pay for it upfront-not on one of those schemes where you spread the cost-i like knowing the ST is ALL mine before the season starts!

This is true, I have it on good authority he is going to Forest. Levein can't stand him. Should be within the next few weeks. Watch this space.

Why was he so open about talking about the clubs finances?

Maybe he was p1ssed up by the time he came in the pub i was in. He was wearing an awful black shirt.

I dont think we are in serious difficulty again, they are just being honest, the budget was spent under Adams for this season, so now CL has to move players on, it looks likely Elliott's in for a similar deal as Benji and there is still a chance others could yet move on.

As for De Vries and Maybury the money that was spent on them is hardly going to bankrupt us, it is slightly different to us spending millions like we did in the Taylor days. Plus that money will either be recouped by moving players out or will be taken out of next years budget, or even better might be covered by a decent cup run. I certainly dont think Tim Davies et al would put the club at financial risk again.

Macey said that of Benji's remaining 6 months they paid him 3 months.
