You don't have to be a fan of something to enjoy a parody of it, in fact, you'd be more likely to enjoy a parody of it than somebody who is a fan of the real thing.

The sutble jokes were very funny, I thought. Like the "band" 2 up 2 down band doing "don't go chasing waterfalls" as one of their songs.
