Scowcroft £3m is missing from the list also.

For some reason he's missnig from the transfers page on Soccerbase - so maybe I've missed someone else too.

Anyway that takes the total over £23 million t*ylor spent, in just over a year.
Those people who are moaning about Levein's signings have got short memories!

Dean Sturridge Derby £ 350000 19-01-2001

If only we had kept him.

That is just transfer fees, you haven't even started on wages. E.g.s include Matty Elliott on over £30,000 per week, Trev Benj on about £17-18,000 per week, etc. The list of blunders goes on and on. It isn't any wonder to me that we don't have a pot to piss in. For the sins of the father we must pay! (by which I mean the old board who let him spend such stupid figures on absolute rubbish)

Cheers Taylor you Tw@t:mad: :098:

don't remind me of Peter Taylor. Besides its best talking about him just before March when we have Hull at home, OH yes i've got my £20 ready for that one!! He is the AntiManager of Leicester City after 20 million went into flames, gurh we still havent recovered from that yet, thanks for opening up old wounds. ;)

Tis indeed, I broke the news on that, sorry folks. Just to rub salt in the wounds aswell, I did also hear that Matt Jones was going to be 'offered round' to agents for about 750k - 1million but good old Tayl*r put a bid in before it happened

Whilst everyone is in agreement that PT proberly the worst manager in the clubs history, do some of you not think he was infact not the worst thing to happen to the club?

What (IMO) was the worst thing to happen was Elsom!

Elsom and the board signed Walker, Wise And Scow because we lost about 10games on the bounce at the end of the previous season. After that season they aslo re-newed PT's contract. They gave him all the money he asked for without question, and they Appointed him!

Then when we went into Admin Elsom buggered off and gave 1 million to Grimbsey to get on their board!

They also made no plans for relegation, ploughed staright on and built the Walkers and lost Harry Rednapp who had all but been appointed Manager. Had Harry of actually come I don't think we would of been relegated that season, I do still think we would of gone into Admin - but i think we would of been in a much better position that we currently are now.

Exactly. Peter Taylor never understood what Leicester City was all about but he was allowed by the board - not just Father Christmas Elsom - to squander all the club's resources and put the club in hock from which it has never properly recovered (and IMO is unlikely to recover for many years - if ever).

Taylor illustrates the case for separating the roles of team coach from the role of overall strategy including transfer/ wage arrangements.

Lewis, my worst player for City. He wasn't the worst footballing player City ever had but just the general look of him and the refusal to move clubs under Adams because of his contract.

Taylor and Elsom's joint stewardship of our club should be made into a footballing educational documentary on how not to manage a football club. Every feasiable mistake was made and without learning from several early warnings both Taylor and the board seemed to carry on obilivious to the carnage and destruction their decisions and actions were having to what was once a sound and solid premiership club.

What I want to know is was this this 20mill available to o'neill and if no why not?

Most of the extra money came from the sale of Heskey, Lennon etc.

The real thing that cost us was the high wages and long contracts, something that wouldn't have mattered if the players were any good.
