Endelig dødelige dødballer = At last deadly deadly-balls

That was the headline in the local Lillestrøm newspaper the day after the game.
:icon_sad:

Almost Dutch. :icon_eek:

Eindlijk doodlijk doodbal.

What luck has it brought since Polarfox?

Apart from a couple of Cup Finals, I don't think Glimt have ever done very well. Bodø is a really isolated place and i think Glimt have done well to stay in the top league over there for so long.

They have clearly spent a pile on their stadium so that they can play European games, but it is still nothing like we would have even in the Championship over here. I'm trying to think of a similarly sized ground over here but I am struggling. Wall of supermarket/offices behind one goal. Uncovered terrace at the other end. Decent covered stands at both sides - but the whole place only holds just more than 6,000.

with the supermarket stand it sounds abit like the old Bolton ground. Didnt that have a sainsbury (im sure someone will point out is was another supermarket brand) in one corner.

Ah!! Completely different to Burnden Park, where the supermarket was built on half the terrace and blocked the view of half the pitch from the other half. At the Aspmyra the wall of the supermarket/offices stretches along the whole of the goal-line and about 10 feet from it. There are adverts on the wall but no seats or terrace at all at that end of the ground.

What are their average gates then?

I don't know about the average but they got 4,906 for the game against Viking on Sunday. The place must have been rocking.

I don't know whether the figure would have been higher than normal on account of the fact that it was their first game back after the mid-season break.

It should be remembered that there is almost no tradition of travelling to away games in Norway. These would almost all have been locals - almost 5k out of a population of 40k. Imagine if the City of Leicester could get a similar proportion of its citizens to the game!!

Is this due to the distance between most of the teams?

I would imagine so. I think the teams in and around Oslo and Bergen take fans to each others matches but Bodø is really well off track.

It is pretty general throughout Europe though that there are not as many away fans as there are in England. In 1997 Real Madrid took the most away fans to Atletico Madrid - who took the second biggest following there?

Correct!!!

We took more than any Spanish side other than the one with whom they share the city!

I don't think I would say that we were robbed. We just failed to keep our composure.
