Melts if you are going for it, dont do it through Sky, you can pick the boxes up brand new for around £250 instead of £300 and then you dont have to pay the £60 install fee either.

Who installs it then, or isit simply a case of old wires in new holes.

Also are the other boxes sky+ compatible. For the sake of £100 I would rather have no complications, how uncomplicated is the DIY version?

You just take out the cables from Sky+ and install them in the new box, then call Sky and tell them you want to upgrade your sub to HD. All HD boxes are Sky+ by default only they have 300gb drives instead of 40gb (or possible 60gb depending when you got +)

Okey Doke, does this avoid any potential "start up" delays by waiting for engineer visits or will they still delay when you ask to be turned on

Is there anywhere local I can go and buy a box today and be up and running by tonight?

I does indeed, once the box is plugged in, call Sky and youll be up and running within seconds.

I'm not sure on that score, an independant is your best bet, not Currys etc as they want £400 for one.

£265 on eBay Melton, free next day postage. Youll be up and running by lunchtime tomorrow. Then I can see it on Friday and decide whether to buy it or not ;)

Installation free if you subscribe to multi room :icon_wink and £299 for the box

So thats an extra £20 a month :icon_conf Plus the wait for Sky to pitch up and disconnect your box.
I already have multi room

Not bothered about the wait now, I was excited an hour ago and had I seen a box I'd have bought it. I can now wait for a few more days

think its a rip off when they expect existing customers to pay for installations
