Highly unlikely in my view. I am 100% sure that RK will get the job unless we get relegated.

It makes sense and its cheaper. I may be wrong though.

i hope he isnt going to be our boss

I also think RK will be given the job, but i don't see that Mick McCarthy would be such a bad choice?
you only have to look at his two previous jobs, taking a pretty average Ireland side to the World Cup, and getting a pretty average Sunderland side to the Prem by winning the championship. IMO if we don't apoint Kelly, he's a far better prospect than someone like Holloway.

RK is currently averaging 2 points a game, if we'd done this all season we'd be one point behind Sheffield Utd.

Since the club are aiming for promotion he needs to keep up that kind of form for the rest of the season to demonstrate that he is the man who can achieve that. Considering, as far as we can tell so far, he has no pedigree in going into the transfer market he needs to prove what he can prove with the players at his disposal.

Just not being relegated may be enough for the fans and the club right now, but it shouldn't be enough to keep RK in a job.

You don't want much do you?

Look, if our financial position is as it seems to be - RK won't need much "pedigree going into the transfer market" - the only thing he will need to learn in the short term is how to say "cheerio" to some of our best players.

Also, if he can achieve an average of 2 points a game across a season with the players he is likely to have at his disposal next season then I suggest he is not only more than adequate to manage LCFC but he should also pick up some additional work at Lourdes.

Finally, RK has one overwhelming other quality .....he's on the payroll and we won't incur the additional expense of bringing in someone else - still less an already contracted manager.

I don't think you would get very long odds on RK being made manager at the end of the season - racing certainty IMO ..and good luck to him.

Excellent post.

The other major thing to consider is that the club really doesnt need the complete overhall a new manager would bring. We have had too many new players, managers, coaches etc in the last 4 years to remember or is healthy.

Also we simply couldnt afford it and I doubt the club would benefit long term.

What we need is stability and perspective. If the club is ever going to get back up then its going to take a few years and alot of graft.

A large proportion of future players in next couple of seasons will come from the acadamy as we are already seeing (Stearman, Sheehan, Weso, O'Grady, Chambers), and who better to bring them through than a guy who is well know for working with the youngsters.

Yes we all want promotion but dont expect it next season if we are still in the championship. It probably will be another hard season but at least we will have a manager with a bit of passion to go with the young exciting team.

I remember the days when a manager would come to a club and "manage" the players that were already at the club.

Then a new style of manager evolved and would bring a whole new backroom squad with him because they were part of "his team"

Now the new manager has again evolved and has taken a turn for the worse. They bring a whole new playing squad with them. To me, this shows their inability at man management and at managing a team of individuals to gel as one.

It takes the skill out of "scouting" and a manager tries to become the players friend instead of his boss, in order for the player to follow him to his next club. The player thinks the manager is his friend and will then ultimately take the piss because he knows his name is first on the team sheet every week.

but the wider employment rights legislation is so weighted towards the players (in the sense that they are treated as employees rather than chattels of the club) that they basically move around at will anyway.

It's all bollox really. A company isn't allowed to sell it's employees. But it is allowed to sell it's assets / chattels. So therefore a player is an asset, if he is to be sold. Obviously the Bosman ruling stipulates that when out of contract a player can walk. But if he is in contract, can his employer legally sell him, he can release him from the contract, but sell him?. Is the selling money classed as compensation settlement from the other employer? This is the only way I see this being legal.

Could selling an employee to another employer be classed somewhere in law as the illegal slave trade, or do they get around that by paying astonomical salary's

2 years, £150K, that's feck all really.

Per year sorry didn't make that clear. Contract worth 300k.

Oh, now that's sounds better. Doubt there is any truth in it though.

It was on Leicester Sound News. I'm guessing its incase RK keeps us up and a club like Sunderland want him. Lets face it hes worked wonders with the same squad CL had.

It's very similar to the situation at Newcastle.

It is still a gamble appointing him. We know very little about what he can do in the transfer market.

Don't get me wrong though. He has done a fantastic job and I am very happy!:icon_wink

Not too sure about Rufus yet. He looked alright, but that was only ten minutes. If he is only cover I think it is a good little signing.

Can't complain about Welsh. Horrible miss, but a great run, and he looked like he was eager to get involved and battle. The Jury is still out for me though on the signings front.
