Well,

I have decided to resurrect this thread for this season.

I have looked at the last 10 years final points tally for all teams 1-20 and this is the next post

I have also added our current points tally and 'greyed' out on the table when we have achieved this. I have also looked at and added the lowest, average and highest points achieved for each position.

I have also added our PPG tally to date (2.18 at the 16 game point) and 'greyed' out again what position we would finish in should we maintain the PPG.

Post 3 is the current position.

Hope this is of interest.

Camberwell.

Basically, we need to do better if we want to win the league.

Maybe Claudio will be gone by Christmas afterall!

EDIT - Excellent spreadsheet work yet again CF!

Pellegrini reportedly said they are aiming for 80 points to win the title.
Anyone told him we're going for81

Please see above the updated table.

A point next Saturday would remove all doubt that we could possibly finish in the bottom three mathematically based on the last 10 seasons.

Our PPG moved up a bit to 2.24 which is creeping up on the 2.30 PPG needed to finish top (on average) if this were maintained until the end of the season.

Please see above the updated table and projected finishing points and positions.

The reverse at Liverpool has set us back a bit in terms of PPG, and this shows how fine the margins are between positions.

Hopefully we can get back on track v Manchester City tomorrow evening!

I have made a final amendment to the spreadsheet.

I have put an extra column on the far right hand side that shows what points we would finish with if we were to have an extremely poor slump and only get one point per game from now until the end of the season.

In the main body of the chart the projected points tally and position are highlighted in pink.

So, roughly speaking: 30 points from back half of the season should be more than enough for Champions League.

A big ask, but 3 wins less than the first half of the season...no reason we can't do it.

Repeat the first half results and we will be in with a decent shout of the entire bastard thing.

We're safe then (apart from our eyes, of course)
