if you’d be kind enough to add on the spreadsheet how many points the 1st - 4th team had after 30 games, it would be appreciated.

Reminded me of some stuff that had slipped my mind.

I've seen us go up to the top division by automatic promotion 4 times in my life as a fan.

First time we came straight back down.

2nd time we finished bottom half for the next 2 years, then missed relegation by a whisker, then came down again.

3rd time we came straight back down again.

4th time it took the great escape to keep us up.

We are complete shite after automatic promotion. We need to start chucking away points to get to the play offs.

(ALTHOUGH - It's possible we could walk the Championship, struggle next season but somehow stay up & then celebrate the 10th anniversary of the title win by doing it again. Exactly the same story. I'd settle for that !...wonder what the odds are ? )

Southampton are undefeated in 21 league fixtures having won 15 and drew 6. Some big 3-4 goal margins there too.

Thanks for your help Jeff.

Explanation for anyone who needs it:
10 seasons data captured with points for all teams finishing 1-6.
Then on the far left is the average, high and low.
After 30 games we have 72 points which means 2.4 ppg, if this rate is maintained we would reach 110 points, i will update this as and when it changes.
As we currently have 72 points we have achieved (or exceeded) the overall season points for 6th place in the 13/14, 19/20, 22/23 seasons as well as the lowest total.
As our points increase I will highlight red the cells that are relevant.

It's quite a faff as I have been doing it, but i'll look for a viable alternative...

So realistically we need around 25 points from the remaining 16 games - recognizing that the league is a bit top heavy this year.

6 or 7 wins from 16 should be enough to guarantee promotion.

Remaining home games:

Sheffield Wednesday
Boro
QPR
Southampton
Norwich
Birmingham
West Brom
Blackburn

Have to believe we win at least 4 of those.
