A good point today, and a performance thats lifted the threat of relegation imo. I thought we were the better side in general in the second half, but lived dangerously a couple of times in the last 10 mins. This was my first look at city for a while and i'm getting mixed signals from this game. RK often claims that he could not ask more of his players, and upto now thats been very much open to debate. On todays evidence i did see a team that worked it socks off and with that attitude there's no danger of relegation. The down side for me was the clear lack of quality in the team and we really do look like we need at least 5 or 6 new players.
I liked what i saw today, a good honest effort from a team that needs some summer surgery. Once again we managed to raise our game when we played difficult opposition, but i wont be suprised to see the real Leicester city rear its ugly head in the less glamourous fixture at Plymouth. All in all and for the first time in a while i feel there were a few positives come from a city game.

Re: Something to smile about

Last part of the 2nd half was OK, but the 1st half was dire.

1 point is not enough to keep RK here next season and most of the players

Re: Something to smile about

Your quite right effort could not be falted, but there was a real abscence of quality in midfield and across the park in general. Tiatto is a great battler but that alone wont win matches.
Hughes, Stearman,Maybury and Porter were all guilty of some woeful passing at times. We need 11 players who are comfortable on the ball and at least 3 or 4 with genuine class. Alas of our current squad that means most will need to get the elbow in the summer.

Matty Fryatt

When he came on, he was our best player by a country mile today, he changed the way we played as he used his ability to hold the ball up and spread it to the wings. He also managed to score a great goal, one which I would very much doubt any other of our players would have been able to score.

Basically I started this thread because Matty Fryatt has been getting a lot of stick on this board over the season and as I haven't seen him play often until today I didn't bother sticking up for him as I didn't have my own opinion. However, after today, anyone who believes that Fryatt should be or should have been shipped out needs their heads checking!! He offered 100 times more than Hammond today and hopefully the lad can stay injury free until the start of next season and then he can show all you doubters what he is really capable of!

Man of The Match today - Matty Fryatt!! :038:

Oi Steve-O - whatcha playing at! Fryatt needs a thread on his own, if you are going to merge it, at least do it with one of the other Matty Fryatt threads please!!

And I bet it was you who closed the match thread, just as I was writing a massive response to it and then tried posting it for it all to cock up!!

I must say that in the second half they played better and Fryatt didi look a lot better and thinner on the ball. BUT they still lack commitment and ability and that did not change today.

I genuinly believe that if Fryatt and Hume had 4 good midfielders behind them they would be one of the best partnerships in this division. Both have skill and imagination, but are constantly having to deal with woeful service.

Did you see porters cross with two minutes to go. Hume was running towards the 6 yard box looking for the low wiped cross across the box. Alas the ball was shanked into row Y behind the goal.

Exactly, our midfield was today, and has been for the majority of our season, non-existent. We don't have anyone who can burst through the middle like The Sheep have got Barnes and until we have someone like that it will remain the same.

Also the fact that our wingers are pants, Levi didn't really do much today, seen him play a lot better, and Hughes is no winger either.

Does anyone know where Wesolowski, Johnson and Shaun Newton (not NewtonFox) were today?

We had no threat down the right, Porter was under used and Jarrett should have gone off instead of Hughes. ;)

Also i was alarmed that about 2 or 3 times in the last 10mins they had a man totally unmarked in our area when the Sheep were looking dangerous. The first one we got away with because the front man headed the cross over. Their other player was standing on his own about 5-10 yds further over. In the other situation we had to be grateful of a weak effort by their player who seemed to want to long on the ball before his tame effort. Both times though i would say where was the feckin marking:102:
