top bloke.

I fear he's too nice a guy to be a successful manager.

They may have a short term boost during his honeymoon but I'd be surprised if he makes a go of it.

A shame because he's clearly a great guy.

Lets hope it doesn't have the same effect as Wilkins leaving Chelski!!

He was on the lunch-time news in the London and south-east. He looks and sounds very happy and so do the Charlton fans.

Good luck to him.

Big loss to the club. Formed a great link between players and management. Brilliant role model for the younger players in a way that Sven kust cannot be.

Good luck and thanks, Chris.

Best of luck to him at Charlton. He deserves his chance at management and it's probably the perfect club for him.

As player and coach at our club the man never did anything but handle himself spot on and with great maturity and dignity.

What will be interesting is whether Sven opts to replace him with a new first team coach and who this may be. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sven pull off another coup and get a top drawer coach in that may help to kick us on even further.

Ray Wilkins.

I'll echo what I said in the speculation thread - sad news for the club, but good luck to him.

F*ck :(

In a week where we've had a great addition, we've also suffered a big loss.

Best of luck to Chris - I think he's loved it here.

Will Sven bring in his old favourite now - Tord Grip?

I would like to see another young coach come in who can mix well and earn the respect of the players quickly like Powell did. I can't think of anyone at the minute though.

He's already employed by the club as head of scouting.

That never happened did it? I heard talk of it when Sven was linked with us, but I don't remember ever seeing that Tord became a member of our backroom staff.
