Perhaps Shakey should be being asked about Watford and matches this season. Next pre-season shouldn't even be on his mind.
It's called forward planning.

And I'm sure Shakey is capable of thinking about more than one thing at once.

forward planning - like after last season.

If you read the article, you'll see that he acknowledges that last year's pre-season was far from ideal.

Don't tell me you actually read the article before posting?!

Leicester City have been lined up for a four-team summer tournament in Asia.

City are set to join Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace in the Asia Cup in July, to be played in Hong Kong and possibly China.

Neither City or the Premier League have confirmed the competition yet, but the Hong Kong Football Association have reportedly confirmed the Asia Cup will take place on July 19 and July 23.

It was originally planned that the semi-finals of the tournament would definitely take place in Hong Kong before moving to Shanghai for the final and third and fourth play-off on the 23rd, but that clashes with the Chinese Super League fixtures.

It has yet to be confirmed but all four games could now take place in Hong Kong unless the Chinese league fixtures are moved.

"We are still waiting for the [Premier League] to decide whether Hong Kong will stage both match days," Hong Kong Football Association chairman Brian Leung Hung-tak told the South China Morning Post.

"However, one thing is sure we will stage the final on the second day.

"The [Premier League] has decided to change the format and there will be no representative from the hosts."

City had a hectic schedule last summer which saw them spend a week in Los Angeles to play Paris Saint-Germain before jetting to Stockholm to take on Barcelona in the International Champions Cup.

Current boss Craig Shakespeare has admitted that much travelling was not ideal preparation for the new season.

"It was new for us last year, but we had to embrace it. The amount of travelling wasn't ideal. I never want to see Birch in a pair of shorts again."

City have already announced they will play pre-season friendlies at Burton Albion and MK Dons.

City travel to Stadium MK on Friday, July 28 before heading to the Pirelli Stadium to face the Brewers on Tuesday, August 1. Both games kick off at 7.45pm.

City are also arranging a prestigious friendly to be played at the King Power Stadium, believed to be on the weekend before the new season kicks-off on Saturday, August 12, but there has been no announcement yet who their opponents will be."

Great - exactly what we need to acclimatise to the new season in the English premiership, a trip to China/Hong Kong = 12 hour flight, opposite ends of the earth. I've been there in the summer, 35 degree C and humid as hell. Perhaps they could break the journey and stop over in Thailand for some rest and recuperation... oh, wait a minute...

I suspect that when they travel Royal Class with our sports science and physios team, the physical demands of air travel are minimised.

It is not the same as us going cattle class with Ryanair.

All that distance to play West Brom. They're not Barcelona.

Genuinely don't get the travel issue.

Elite athletes can deal with a 1st class flight and few days away. There is zero reason why it should have any impact at all as long as the preparation is done properly.

Mourinho style excuse IMO.

100% agree. Just think of tennis players - the constant travelling is no issue to them because they have coaches who ensure the preparation is done properly.

You spent a fortnight away with your mates, getting pissed and taking pictures of your cock in their ears while they're asleep. The local bar has girls who can make balloon animals with their muff - meanwhile a sizeable portion of the population believe you are a reincarnated 5th century warlord.

Then you fly into a crap East Midlands airport, to your wife moaning about shoes or handbags or one of the other WAGs being a bitch-hole, the Playstation is on the fritz and Arsenal still haven't put in a proper bid for you. You pop into town and none of the local tarts in the nightclub fancy being spitroasted in a shit travel tavern. In the cab, on the way back to your home, some ****tard who doesn't even go to games is telling the DJ why you should be played at inside right.

**** that for a laugh. I doubt I'd be bothered for the new season either.

It was unfortunate for Ranieri that the effects of last season's awful pre-season schedule wore off the very next day after his sacking.

Lack of potatoe wedges. Long flights are fine if you have wedges.

It was a shame that it took the reality of a legend being sacked for the players to realise the shit they were in and put more effort in. But it is what it is and now we're back.

And here it is, ladies and gentleman...

I was wondering how long it would take for you to post something that shows your biterness to the Ranieri sacking, and to mumble something about effort.
