I learnt after Ranieri not to criticise another clubs decision to sack their manager. Sometimes you have to be closer to a situation to understand when the cracks are appearing.

For me, Southampton dropped off markedly last season. Their football was poor and they just looked like a club going through the motions.

Yes, 8th and a cup final is a good season for Southampton. But I think they've made the judgement that they were about to decline rapidly under Puel and acted. Very smart of them if so.
