If Huddersfield lose today they will have lost seven PL games in December. The only team to have lost seven PL games in a month? Us in April 2001.

(Since football began in 1992, naturally)

And here’s our run in full. I’ve included the preceding matches to give the context of how that Wycombe game changed our season following yet another (at that time) win over Liverpool. A Junior Lewis inspired win if I recall correctly.

Given this is how we ended the season it also shows why the Bolton result on the next opening day wasn’t exactly a surprise

03 Mar 2001 Liverpool W 2-0
10 Mar 2001 Wycombe L 1-2 FA Cup
17 Mar 2001 Manchester United L 2-0
01 Apr 2001 Charlton Athletic L 2-0
04 Apr 2001 Aston Villa L 2-1
07 Apr 2001 Coventry City L 1-3
14 Apr 2001 Manchester City L 1-2
16 Apr 2001 Derby County L 2-0
21 Apr 2001 Middlesbrough L 0-3
28 Apr 2001 Newcastle United L 1-0

It may not have been too much of a surprise, but all preseason optimism was wiped out in the first 45 minutes of the new season.
It bloody hurt.

(Also, didn't we win the few games before the Liverpool game. Against Wycombe there was only going to be 1 winner.
Fecking Roy Essandoah, probably still dining out on it now, after explaining what teletext was!)

****ing hilarious. If you feel the need to induce vomiting after the indulgence of Christmas you need only scroll through the titles of the blog posts on there. ****ery of the highest order.

On the subject of ‘EPL’ fans (I’m sure it only gets called that to market to NFL, MBA fans etc) in America I saw a really sad sight in the summer. Probably 100,000 fans packed into one of their vast roofless stadiums to watch Liverpool and Man City’s Under 23’s. Half in immaculate brand new Liverpool shirts, the other half the same but sky blue. All of them wearing scarves in what looked like blazing heat. I found it completely surreal, really don’t understand what they get out of it.

More than I got out of watching our insipid ****ers today

Presumably Man U at home was one of the winnable games gone?
Full hindsight reply....made the statement prior to Mourinho being sacked so I'm taking that out of the equation. 4 points from two away games seems like a pretty good shout now?

Blimey, that's a blast from the past and by today's standards what a politically incorrect programme that was.

Days spent top of Premier League since Sept 2014:

Man City 489
Chelsea 459
Leicester 149
Liverpool 70
Man Utd 49
Arsenal 30
Huddersfield 1
Hull 1

Surely some mistake here, Totteringham must have been there for a day at least?

I'm sure the goal difference table will be more generous to them.

So a team like Leicester have been top for the same number of days as Liverpool, Yanited and Arsenal combined? Impressive.
