A series of games in 1 location is what we usually do, the problem this year was we played in Glasgow, then LA then Sweden, this will just be a more high profile version of what we always did

What we usually did was play a series of games here at home, thereby focusing on the purpose of maximising match fitness and readiness for the new season. Taking a trip to the Far East might be fine as a promotional tool at the beginning of summer, but not at the cusp of a new season.

The reason we have been shit this season is not down to what happened 8 months ago.

With a flick of a switch the pre season issue has evaporated

It's amazing that people are still pushing that shit isn't it?

You can still maximise match fitness while you're in the Far East. The only issue potentially is the travel time but even then, lying down being pampered on a private jet for half a day probably isn't that knackering.

We were wholly unprepared for the start of this season, the tour contributed to that even if it wasn't the only factor. The same thing has happened to other sides over the last ten or so years, it was the reason given for Chelsea and Man City's poor start last year http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/pep-guardiola-manchester-city-team-8518805

Yes there were other factors, but this was still one of them. Foreign tours are not conducive to proper preparation, I'm amazed anybody would argue otherwise.

It has absolutely no effect on our play in 2017.

Man City had a poor start? They topped the table for around the first 10 weeks of this season and last season too. Last year Chelsea's form had nothing to do with their pre-season, this year they had 10 points from their first 4 games, then they had a bit of a rough patch which ended when Conte changed the formation, now they are pretty much nailed on for the title.

I don't think using those two teams was a good example.

Fine. Travelling to the other side of the world, playing on shit surfaces and everything else that goes with it is perfect preparation for a season. I am so stupid not to have noticed it and now wonder why every team doesn't do the same thing. **** Shepshed Dynamo.
