... it's hardly likely that anybody will want to put huge amounts into the club without receiving the appropriate number of shares in exchange.

People have done this in football clubs before, but would generally agree with your point Boc, certainly the Foxes Trust wouldn't

I agree up to a point, but If someone really supports the club and has more money than they know what to do with why wouldn't they give it to the club as a donation?

People give money to all sorts of causes without expecting something in return, why should a football club be any different?

I don't honestly know why it should be any different, but it is. Perhaps it's because pouring money into a football club (with very few exceptions) is like pouring money down the drain - and people with that sort of money rarely want to just waste it in that way.

I'm not sure who FT has in mind when he says that people have done it before. In my experience, the people who have done it have had some kind of active stake in the club - something that our current set-up militates against. I recognise the anxiries that have led to the current situation, but I'm sure that some way can be found to attract investment without putting the future of the club at risk. Otherwise, it seems that we were destined to stay as we are.
