and some members of his family were there, very emotional. The birch handled it well though.

Overall today not bad thought Preston were a very dirty/physical side and that the lines man at the Kop end of the ground had a shocker in the second half.

Maybury was our poorest player today, however i have never really rated him at the back and much prefer to see him in midfield. Also I didnt think Williams had a very good game today, some poor corners and other touches that let him down IMO.

Just how long was it before Sylla actually touched the ball, when it was in play, after coming on? I got it to about 10 minutes I think.

Good luck to Preston but if they are the team to go up then god help them, at least Sunderlands record wont last long.

Apart from leaving his mic turned in whilst standing next to the grieving mother, so the whole ground could hear her crying :icon_roll

To be honest Preston isnt one of the best supported teams in the division, their home crowds in comparison to other teams in the division are disappointing for a team performing so well, a fact that Billy Davies, the PNE manager often refers to in the local media.

If they were to get in the premiership I would say probably 50% of the games would be sell outs against the bigger clubs / and or the early fixtures whilst interest is high, but once the novelty wears off and some of the more unattractive fixtures come up then the glory hunters or part timers, as with any club will disappear.

I thought the whole thing of parading the family on the pitch was appalling - too much like the Sun or the Daily Star.

It was obviously something they (the family) wanted to do, I would think it was more to do with the fact that the guy would have wanted to be at yesterdays game but as he couldnt be the family felt they should be there instead. The club wouldnt have forced them out on to the pitch at gun point. It was probably good for the family to show them that they are not alone at such a very lonely time.

What was more appalling was the fact that Birch (or whoever is responsible) left the microphone on right in front of the crying mother during the minutes silence

In that case some people need protecting from themselves. Worse then the Sun or the Daily Star - more like Trisha at its worst!

People grieve in very different ways boc and maube they wanted to do the things that this guy would have done on a saturday and wanted to share their obvious grief with everyone. Im not saying it is right or wrong, there is no right or wrong way to deal with grief IMO.

Why are people picking on my post about the microphone, I genuinely thought it was appalling and inconsiderate. Did everybody else find it amusing then?
