Glad it has been given the thumbs down. Not so much the 2 tier idea, but the involvement of Celtic and Rangers.

Yes they are big clubs, yes they have big fan bases, but what knock on effect would it have on our national team?

Would we have to look at a Team GB?:102:

Just because they have outgrown the Scottish league, it's not our fault.
Seem's the Scots only want the English when it suits them!:icon_roll

I think the prem needs to evolve to survive, however this is not the way to do it. Im all for the scottish teams joining our leagues but I don't see why it should be those 2 and why they should automatically be allowed into the prem. It needs very careful planning but it is the only way the leagues will survive.

I almost think that this was really a case of some of the English wanting a very few of the Scots. From an English point of view, I wouldn't be too miffed to see the two Glasgow teams playing down here, but it really would do nothing at all for the game in Scotland as a whole.

The whole idea is based on rampant greed - the no relegation thing is absolute proof of that.

What are they trying to do to our game? OK - this attempt has been thwarted, but they'll be back!

I'd be very interested to know why you think the Premier League will not survive if it doesn't evolve. It seems to me that the only things that are in danger of not surviving are the football clubs themselves - not the few at the top of the Prem, of course, but just about every other club in the country. This proposal had nothing for them - only for a chosen few.

The no relegation idea had been removed from this proposal I believe. I see no reason why all of the scottish teams can't be included in an expanded english (british) league set up but this is not the way to do it. We can't just pick and choose the teams we want if its going to work.

It will not survive in its current form as you post proves.

What do you mean by this? How would it effect the national team?

Welsh teams playing in the 'English' leagues haven't really caused a debate about merging the two national teams, have they.

Gartside is simply trying to save his own bacon and ensure Bolton remain in the Premier League.

It's a total non starter for me.

I don't see how they can say no to Celtic and Rangers but allow Cardif and Swansea? Or am I missing something about how they joined?

There was no Welsh league when the Welsh clubs joined the English league.

Now there is, can we piss them off back over the border? Actually, forget it, because that'd presumably mean we'll have to take TNS and Berwick Rangers.

I think you will find Scottish clubs were invited to join as well at the time and told us to **** off!

Couldn't give a shit either way about whether Rangers or Celtic join or not, but Gartside's 2 tier league should be laughed to high heavens by any sensible person.
