Fabulous feeling to get through. A semi against Roma awaits. What a prospect that is.
I thought BR picked the wrong side and made good half time changes but fitted the players together wrongly. He then brought on Perez and it all slipped into place. He got there in the end.
PSV weren't great and we just needed to show enough quality to overcome them. We just about deserved it over the two legs but that's another round where we've edged a 50/50 contest. That's what cup runs are all about.
Fofana was immense. He's a magnificent player in the making. Thankfully, we'll probably get one more season from him due to his injury but he'll be close on a £100m defender in summer 2023.
Maddison was also excellent. When he's played in a position that allows him to find space, he causes opponents all sort of problems.
I stand by my opinion of Barnes at the moment. He's so out of form that it's criminal playing him. BR clearly hopes that he'll play his way back to confidence but it's costing us too much. Lookman came on and was awful for half an hour until the final adjustments in formation and the PSV players tiring seemed to give him the space he needed.
That point about PSV tiring is key. It was also very notable in the first leg that they ran out of legs late on. The PL is the fastest in Europe and we need to use that to our advantage against sides that look good for a bit and then drop off. Half our squad are relatively fresh seeing as they've been missing most of the season.
