Doesn't matter who plays upfront without a midfield we are fecked IMO

I really hope he has an alternative lined up somewhere, or at least has a few ideas. We really do need a keeper, before the next league game at least.

If Sunderland really want £3M for him it must mean he's going to play, surely. He's already said he'd like to have stayed with us, so forcing him to stay - which is effectively what theyre doing with that price tag - seems stupid if they then sit him on the bench the whole time.

It's a sellers market in Jan, that price will drop by half by the summer IMO.

If they go down,Gordon will have to go and Fulop could well be their Number 1,they may even try to sell Gordon in the 'Window' and thats why they want Fulop back:102:

True, although I don't think they will go down. Is Gordon on huge wages then?

I don't know but he's not going to want to play in the Championship, how many Goalkeepers who cost 9 million ply their trade in the Championship

Sunderland paid £9 million. Im sure Gordon's agent would have done his job and got an equivalent wage!!

Yes, although the Sunderland board would have been mad not to safe-guard relegation wage decreses in his contract.

It was a depressing listen today:(

Just to rub it in, F^&(£t got a 92nd minute winner.

Not a happy day. Looking on the bright side I watched one of "the Finals" Dvd's I got for a tenner today (the derby Playoff final).

I appreciate that the manager has to sign players as they become available - but I agree that the absence of any sort of midfield seems the obvious main problem. A lot of hope is being laid on the potential signing of Graham Kavanagh but he is 34 now and injury prone. We would be lucky to be able to base our revival there.

To me - I see two different Leicester City's. There is the one where the players appear to give of their all - but generally fail to pick up three points because of an ultimate lack of quality e.g. Cardiff (H) and Charlton (Home) and there is the one where heads go down if the opposition scores first and the end of the 90 odd minutes comes as a relief from further misery.

I used to be of the view that we are not quite bad enough to go down - but I am quite fearful now. January is not a good time to bring in a batch of new players because no one wants to let go of a player who is doing well. In contrast so far it seems we are losing our best player - because Sunderland have picked up on his good form

Just back

Well played Howard, Defence was shocking, Hayleys didnt look any good, Fryatt should have scored.

For those who went: Did we switch to a 4-3-3 when Howard came on, or 4-4-2 with Fryatt and Hume as our wide men? Also, who looked the better player, Howard or Hayles? I only ask this as I personally don't think H&H will work as effectively up front as one of the H's and Fryatt/Campbell.

4-4-2.

Howard.

I would try Howard and Fryatt up front on satdee.

First half was probably one of the worst halves this season. Utter utter shite.

Second half was a tad better, but being 2-0 it was a mountain to climb and comical defending for all three goals didn't help.

The defence was all over the place, obviously didn't trust Henderson at all, the fullbacks were ripped to shreds by the pace of the R's two wingers.(Stearman back to the cack.......) Yet again a non-existent midfield meant lumping the ball forward to Hayles and Fryatt and apart from a swerving free kick even before R's scored we looked inept and clueless.

Ollie then shoved Howard on, tbh he had to, replacing Mattock-though it must've been a close choice between him and Stearman, both useless.

Second half we looked better, but having effectively four strikers on the pitch(Hume and Fryatt out wide) meant against our rubbish midfield was bypassed for most of the game.

Fryatt SHOULD'VE done better with a close range header but it was a very good save by Camp on the line who just flung his legs out to block it.
We had a couple of other decent chances as well but tbh if we had've scored one of them R's would probably have just gone back down the other end of the pitch and scored again.

Ref was a whistle-happy picky wassock who wanted every free kick to be taken from the exact blade of grass it was given on. But seemed to think shirt-pulling was only a foul around the halfway line.

So all in all, a decent Christmas ruined by a shitty performance in the first game of the new year which makes you remember just how much work needs to be done to this squad!

I hope Fulop plays really crap for Sunderland so the asking price drops, cos having Hendo in goal is a bloody liability, flaps at everything, doesn't command his area, and the lads in front of him panic anytime the ball goes near him.

Happy New Year everyone!
