As you can see,i`m not someone that posts often, but felt that i had too, tonight, for sep.
Sep was my dads uncle,my great uncle, and someone that i`m very proud to say was part of our extended family.
Sep was the youngest of seven brothers, from a place called whitburn, near sunderland.
Five of the brothers played pro football, Jack and Billy played for portsmouth, tom played for Leicester and man utd, before dieing in his early thirties, joe,my grandad, played at Leicester, but couldn`t force his way into the first team, and moved to watford, and of course sep played for Leicester.
Jack played for England 3 times and sep played for England once, but even then we were seen as an unfashionable club, and was difficult to get any recognition, while playing for us.
My dad always told me what a fantastic player sep was,and that when the young Don Revie came to Leicester, sep took him under his wing, and my Dad said to watch Don Revie play was to watch sep play, sep had so much influence on the way he played.
Sep even appeared on This is your life, for Don Revie!
When we got to the 49 cup final,Don revie had to miss it through injury, and alot of people felt sep should have played,as a ready made replacement, despite his being at the end of his playing days, but instead they played someone, who i think was harrison, who apparently was related to someone who was high up on the board,i think he was a son in law or something, and they actually played him out of position,to accomadate him in the team.
It was a shame that Sep never got to play in a cup final, but he did play in a semi final against portsmouth, around about 1934,against his two older brothers,Jack and Billy, unfortunately we lost.
Sep was the last of the brothers to pass away, and even out lived my dad,who was very proud to have him as an uncle, and would be very sad at his passing, but now sep and his brothers, and my dad,who was also at city,as a youth, before going to play at reading, can have a kick about together again,i bet my dad makes sure seps on his side!
rest in peace uncle sep.
