No, I just like to stir up contoversy

Why do people think moving the Cov match to Friday night will cause trouble?

If a match is on Saturday people have time for a couple of hours in the pub, then to go to whatever pre-arranged meeting place they have, and then go on to the match, then afterwards have all evening to continue drinking/fighting.

If the match is on a Friday night they won't have as much time to do that, before or after the match (assuming they have jobs), so presumably the risk of trouble will be reduced.

The one difference is the policing - it will be more difficult to police after the match because it will be dark. But it's often dark after a 3pm kick-off for winter matches, and I don't hear people saying they should be brought forward so the match can finish when it's light.

In my past experience, there always seemed to be more trouble at night matches, whatever day it was on.

Pre-emptive trouble makers will take the day off.

exactly and then they have all day to get tanked up.

I think the thing is that the pre-emptive trouble makers will make trouble not matter what the time it kicks off but its the guys who are not really bothered about trouble but will join in after a few to many on a friday afternoon that will make the trouble larger scale than say an early saturday kick off.

Just on a Friday night general idiots are bound to join in rather than a Saturday afternoon.
