I heard yesterday that these are no longer going to be played at the Marstons. Is this something I missed whilst my internet was offline?

Can anyone shed any light on this? Where are they going to be played instead?

They're not going to be played anywhere.

The reserves have passed on. This reserves is no more. They have ceased to be. They have expired and gone to meet their maker.

Not strictly true - they are not playing in a league competition, but there will be a series of matches arranged with other clubs in the same position (ie pushed out of the league by the big boys). As I recall they said these would be played at Belvoir Drive.

Why is this happening? Was it a choice by RK?

no, it was something to do with the league.

we were in the "premiership" reserve league or something and they decided they didn't want championship clubs.

atleast i vaguely remember a story along those lines.

either way, expect lots of friendlies against cov

maybe thats why theyve changed/done away with them :icon_wink

There was an announcement on the OS just after the end of the season - the Big Clubs of the premier reserves league wanted it cut down, which meant clubs like us & Cov getting the push. The club said that there seemed no point in joining any of the alternatives, which would mean playing a lot more games against mainly lower league reserves, so they were getting together with some others in the same boat to organise a series of friendlies throughout the season.

Edit - just saw Boc has posted the link

Not likely to be public matches though, which is a pity for those who enjoy going to watch 'ones for the future' and get a cheap football fix at the same time.

can anyone find out for sure if these would be open to the public :102:

The person I spoke to at the club indicated that they wouldn't be, although he did carry on to say that individuals might be able to get permission on an inforaml basis to enter Belvoir Drive and watch them.

Away games would be subject to whatever policy that club decided. I don't think we can rely on it. As somebody who has watched quite a few reserve games in London and the south-east I think their loss is a pity but I can't really see an answer to keeping them as was (or similar).

then you would have to find out when they were on :102: its a shame as its only 5 mins away i wonder what reason they wouldnt want spectators

Why not form a breakaway league with all the clubs that have been chucked out.:102:

Very true. A bit like the Boston game last season which was only publicised after it had taken place.
