Is this just another attempt to make the weak clubs weaker?

match experience is vital for the younger players,

players returning from injuries will also be effected

and fringe players will be too unfit if they are called upon for the first team.

this can only be a bad thing, despite the spin on the official site article.

It's a silly, silly peny-pinching idea!

what do you think will be the long term cost to the first team?

I think it will cost the whole club, not just the first team. You yourself have already written some of the reasons it is not a good idea. It removes the link-span between the academy and the first team. Where will the decent academy-graduates get their match experience in the future - else where, that's where. And once they've gone elsewhere, they will stay elsewhere and we will be left to buy in the market. I really don't see the point of having an academy if you're not going to be able to develop them from then on until they are ready for the first-team.

It's short-termism - just like the ground-share idea!

i really can't see any benifit to not joining a league arrangement. if we are to play anywhere the number of games we would need to still make it worthwhile, i can't see how it would save any money.

and surely we have enough young players, not to have send people involved with the first team, when fixtures clash?

Surely it must better for the younger players to be playing in a competition scenario rather than a series of friendlies? Im sure they would all be more motivated if they were winning the reserve league rather than just winning the odd friendly here or there.

Why can't the reserve leagues reflect the 1st team leagues?

Obviously you are relying on your 1st team regarding relegation or promotion, but there could be a financial incentive for winning the league, or a dedicated reserves FA cup.

Something is possible, surely?. It can't just end, that is nothing short of preposterous

the res team will play mainly friendly games at the taring ground, they will still play the prem team we used too but behind closed doors due to the res league that the prem teams are in and we used to be in , any lower league is no good for lcfc as stated on the os ,there was talk of a midlands res league with us sheep, cov, brum, wba, and the trees but not heard anything for a while now ,there will be the odd game you will be able too see which ones they don't know yet ,ill find out next week ;)

I'm not bothered about watching the games. I want them to play competitive matches.

Good work Newton, whats the latest on Deep Freeze? FT were saying he had failed a medical at Plymouth, is there any truth in that? Hows he feeling about being left out of the squad?
