Fancy going to a top four club like Chelsea, learning from someone like Peter Cech and the Chelsea coaching staff, training with some of the best players in the country, getting a chance to experience some first team football at he highest level (albeit limited at first) and seeking to prove his value at that level, and getting five times the salary he would earn elsewhere

Honestly, what a complete and utter loser he really is

Booooo, piss off with your sensible quotes, WE NEED IDIOTS, NO; WE DEMAND IDIOTS....................

So he is merely a trainee? :102:

It doesn't say that. It says that at Championship level, he couldn't afford to not be playing, not that he doesn't want to play.

I read it as him saying because they are in the championship he would be required to play every game, wheras he wants time on the bench

My point wasn't that it wasn't a good move for him personally, just that his comments highlight his attitude may not be the best.

He said that he couldn't afford to be on the bench, so I read that as him needing to play every week, which, presumably, M'boro couldn't guarantee him.

I would have thought he was their first team keeper in the championship

His quote doesn't make much sense to me:

At Championship level I would have to play every week, I couldn't afford to be on the bench. Here at Chelsea it's different, we play 60 games and it's a squad game.

I can't fathom what point he's trying to make, but it sounds to me like "I don't want to play every week, I want to sit on the bench sometimes, but I wouldn't be able to do that at 'boro".

That's how I read it

What he is trying to say is that he would expect to play every week in the Championship but might not, but in the Premiership he doesn't mind being on the bench presumably because there are more games and possibly because it's Chelski.

He doesn't do it very well and it still does not make much sense.

I'm at Chelski now and they pay me squillions more money and so if I have to sit a few of their 60 odd games out it doesn't matter.

If I'd have still been at Boro earning peanuts I would have to play every week as I need the money and couldn't afford to be second fiddle to someone else, but they said I couldn't play every week, so I said ok fcuk you lot, I'm off!

You as well ?

Does that mean Turnbull is only third choice, then ??

Blimey, what a loser

So, he only got paid by 'boro if he played? :102:

I didn't think it was difficult to understand at all.

He had no guarantee of first team football at Boro.

He doesn't want to risk being second choice in the Championship.

Second choice at a top club is ok, though.

Simples.

Perhaps his basic wage and appearance bonus was potentially lower at boro than at Chelsea.

I read it as 'Chelsea are the best team, paying the most money who've made me an offer so I'm going there. Here's a bullshitty smokescreen answer for the saddos to chew on a bit.'
