The attacking side of the Italy performance was the most encouraging since 1996. Our record against top level international teams in competitive competitions is miserable.
Hes not going to be vocal in ending a players international career. He will do it like he has done with Terry.
Lambert was nothing more than a direct gamble which every team does in that situation.
I would have thought that our experience with Pearson would have learnt Leicester fans that even managers learn from mistakes and gutting circumstances to become stronger. Experience only comes if you are subjected to it and international tournaments don't come too often. I suspect if Hodgson keeps on he knows he's gotta sort out a better back four for two years time and we've got sort out the deep midfield two. If you bring in a new man, he's likely to scrap anything we've learnt in order to get immediate success and get the fans/press on his side.
Klinsmann has been used as an example elsewhere as a good international manager. With Germany he had the bonus of being the host country and having two years of friendlies to work out how to get his team sorted. They were calls for him to quit early on his USA career as they needed a win in their last game of the first phase qualifying to get through. It's came good finally but he's used something like 50 players in the process. International football is a long game and as along as there are signs of progression, you might as well keep with it. You could see a progression from 2012 to now and that's fine by me.
