Here’s the thing.

When the public turns to outright gangsters and crooks like Trump, Musk, Farage, Johnson and the ilk, they unwittingly endorse the behavior of these rapacious billionaires and millionaires.

The culture of obscene wealth, greed, cruelty, corruption and incompetence - all executed with complete impunity - is upon us all.

So you have businesses being ran by mini-Musks or the sort of characters that know the only thing that matters is how said Musks feel. Work your employees to death, strip benefits and salaries, mental health is for the weak, empathy is for pussies. Etc etc.

Eventually they cut too deep, ignore too many competent experts, and drive out any sense of moral obligation and professional pride that people have because…well…what good is that?

Then the floor at the wine factory cracks….except it’s at a major dam, or a power grid, or a center for disease control.

And there’s no escape from it except an internal one. Retreat into your family, listen to your favorite records, drink well, be kind, create community and eat good food while you can.

Eventually it’ll be all heads on sticks in town squares. But maybe not during our lifetime.

Anyway, Rudkin out. And take that incompetent billionaire too. Sooner the club was in League 2 being run by people that care about it.

I’d recommend we all have a certain Viktor Frankl book on hand in the years ahead. We will need it.

Sorry to get heavy for a sec. I’d rather be talking about Kelly Brook and a sly one in the back of a public bus, trust me. I’ve just been thinking long and hard recently about how to approach these times we are in.

It is my approach too, sadly. Deliberately head in the sand.

Oh, and watch apocolypse tv.

I like to think retaining some inner peace is its own act of rebellion. They want all of you, they can’t have it.
In truth, having you not care probably works for them too.

I truely admire those that fight the good fight. Not for me that one. I've given up, I see fighting as futile. Just live local and be nice to your neighbours, I'll see my time out in a kind of ignorant bliss.

This is the bit I won't get on board with.

I get everything else and agree with almost all of what you have written but I don't want to spend any of my time watching awful football at awful grounds. I want us to be in the top league and that takes money, like it or lump it. We've made a hash of this season because we have a ****ing idiot in charge of management decisions and that obviously needs to change but unless KP are going to sell us to another rich ****er who will invest in the club, then I'm not interested in them walking away.

I know it's a pretty distasteful way to think but I'm honest enough to admit that I'd rather us be in the PL (or at least top of the Championship) and be owned by a group like KP, than sitting in League 2 owned by a smashing bunch of lads.

I draw the line at Saudi owners though; they can still **** off to ****shire.

I used to be like this. Not so much anymore.

That said, I don’t have to go to these grounds to be fair.

And I totally understand why. It's a pretty selfish thing for me but I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to spend any more time at Peterborough or Walsall than I have to....

I think totally differently nowadays.

The PL is absolute shite to be in unless you're competitive. We've had a few years of being that but, for most of my City supporting career of over 40 years, seeing us in the top league is a miserable experience.

There is nothing worse than turning up to watch your team every week and knowing that you'll be outplayed.

The standard in the Championship is awful but it's far more honest and every match is a bit of a lottery. I'd take that for a few years to rebuild over what we've seen this year.

And travelling away in the Championship and League One pisses all over the PL. It's a far better experience and more real than being charged an absolute fortune to be stuck in the clouds somewhere and treated like shite.

None of this also takes into account the blatant cheating, financial bollocks, VAR, massive TV prices, over paid prima donnas, 'best league in the world' wank.

I’ve always been of the view that if they could just put the right people in the right positions I will be very happy. If however they are going to just continue to shoot themselves in the foot it will get very boring very quickly.

I’m grade 5 piano now. I seriously started playing so that when I’m not at matches and we are bad I can escape into something else. It shows how shit we are. I’ll be a grade 8 maestro before we show any semblance of being a properly run football club :icon lol:

The way you explain it, I could be with you there. Particularly about the Championship, it being somehow more "honest". By which, I probably mean I like that level of football. Less 'talented', for real, but more watchable.
Except the people who run the championship. Those guys can suck a dick.
