Honestly I'm struggling to believe this is a Van Nistelrooy appointment. We've got multiple title winning coach Rene Meulensteen saying hed be up for joining Ruud's backroom team. Meanwhile we wind up with Andy King on his first rodeo. This has got Top/ Rudkin PR stunt/ cost saving bollacks all over it......

Yup

Must as I love Kingy, and delighted that we’ve found him a role, what we really ****ing need is a competent coach not some complete ****ing novice

Publicity stunt

The entire back room staff is now LCFC’s choices bar the keeper. 😂

The way I read it AK is mainly focussed on developing the pathway from the youth team to the first team.

If the next crop of kids are capable of playing first team football this could be a really good idea, helping us retain them if other clubs try and steal them.
Agreed, we (and any other club with an academy) need someone doing this role - I'm not sure how much of a tracksuit job it is, but having worked up from being the u-18's assistant manager here and working with the Bristol youth team makes Andy well qualified.

LCFC We are delighted to confirm that legendary former Leicester City midfielder Andy King has been appointed to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s First Team coaching staff.
  • Former midfielder Andy King joins Ruud van Nistelrooy’s First Team staff
  • His role will see him become a key link between our First Team and Academy
  • Legendary midfielder has won the Premier League, Championship and League 1 titles with the Football Club
A graduate of the Club’s renowned Academy, Andy made 379 appearances for us and played a leading role in some of our greatest moments, including the historic Premier League title triumph of 2016.
Andy rejoined us as assistant manager of our Under-18s side in the summer as he helped use his experience as a Premier League, Championship and League 1 winner to develop the next generation of Academy graduates.
Van Nistelrooy said: “Andy is one of the people in the Club with Leicester City in the DNA. What has impressed me most is his eye for the team and for the details of the game. He’s very bright in his ideas and we’re aligned in the idea of how to bring Leicester City forward. [Early on] I asked him to be a part of the First Team with the coaching staff. He really liked it, we all did, also the players. He’s fully a part of that set-up now and I’m happy that he’s helping us with his knowledge of the Club and also of football. He also is a bridge with the Academy. We have players like Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans who are with us a couple of days a week and he’s guiding these players so they’re not caught in the middle. That’s one of his important tasks. It’s fantastic to have him here.”
The 36-year-old’s connection to our Club dates back over 20 years, with his dedication and success on the pitch making him a favourite with the Blue Army during one of the great Leicester City careers - spanning three divisions and including countless memorable moments.
He will now combine his coaching duties with an important role linking the First Team and renowned Academy, which helped nurture his own talents as well as those of many others who have gone on to mark their mark on the professional game.
Andy joins our existing First Team coaching group of Jelle ten Rouwelaar, Brian Barry-Murphy, Ben Dawson, Andrew Hughes and Danny Alcock, further strengthening the skills and experience guiding our First Team squad.
Either a long term bit of planning for a likely extended stay in the championship with limited funds, or a bit of random bollocks meaning **** all. Time will tell I guess.

Either way Ruud has **** all to do with it. He'll be looking to leave when we go down I'd say. Can't see him slogging it out in the second tier. Although this is LCFC so they'll probably throw an obscene amount of cash at him so we can still have a big name I suppose. Nothing anyone at the club does interests me anymore as I just expect it to fail whatever it is.

Well, if it wasn't RvN who wanted him, he's happy to lie for the club:

"Andy is one of the people in the club with Leicester City in the DNA that I wanted to speak with and get to know. Over the course of past few weeks, I asked him to be more part of the first-team setting and coaching staff. He really liked it - we all did, the players did - and he is a full part of that set-up now. He is helping us now with all his knowledge and experience of this football club."

I can absolutely understand why he would want someone like King beside him. He knows the club, he'll be respected and he will get some of the fans on board. It's a sensible decision.

Last thing we need is another person who is mates with everyone.

I'm not so sure about this.

I know what you mean in terms of needing someone who will rule the roost a little more but I think RvN is probably quite strong in that dept. Andy King may be a voice of reason; a 'been there done that' influence. Like I say, it could be a smart move.

Pretty damning statistical analysis of life under RvN.

Warning - if you have somehow managed to retain hope of us staying up, probably best not to read.

Dammit, if it is just a publicity study, they had me hook, line and sinker. It was listening to Ruud, selling it in the press conference. He does come across as very credible.

The mention of King brings back many memories, but for some reason the one that stands out is that video clip of Bernie getting King printed on the back of his shirt at the club shop. Anyone got that clip?

Please end this misery. I don’t care if we don’t have a manager at all. Rudkin loves tracksuits. Get him to do it.
