One of my mates who often hears bits and pieces reckoned it was Jo we were after. Of course, he may have got the wrong end of the stick but thought I'd mention it. I'm not sure where he gets his info but he's been absolutely spot on at times. Regardless, I do think we could do with a goalscorer, even if it is just a short term loan.

There was a report about the game on Saturday in one of the papers (either Guardian of Independent) which had quotes from Richie Wellens. He mentioned both Santa Cruz and Jo.

I know Sven has history with Man City, but I suspect he and a number of other managers have been on the phone to Man City to enquire about any players who might be available on loan, so maybe Sven rang about one striker or another and the conversation took one turn or another. It sounds feasible.

Either way, regardless of how the players would actually do here or whether or not they'd come, I'm quite impressed at the shift in perspective from looking at targets who aren't really wanted by other clubs at our level to ones who would be considered a real coup.

I've not seen Davies or Naughton for us, but I would regard both as too good for this level and its encouraging that we can attract players of this calibre, even if it is just on a short term basis.
