He still plays for the youth team FFS, give him a chance to develop before writing him off.

Sad isn't it?

Exactly. I think Sappleton suffers from being brought in from another club, and a lot of hype when we signed him. People seem to expect more from him than the other academy players.

He's only just turned 18, people need to give him time. Not saying he's going to become great or anything (never seen the lad play at all, so I have no idea!), but just that it's a bit harsh and early to write him off.

sign him up.

Is he really only 5' 10" (179cm), 12st 0lbs (76.0kg) (according to OS)? I thought he was a lot bigger. And I thought he was the new Big Emile.:icon_wink

sappleton will play for leicester before the next year's out. mark my words. a pacey lump who's already got some loan goals at the age of 18. he'll be a player.

could provide better back-up than dickov

Aye - not good enough for Oxford struggling away in the Conference, but good enough for the team at the top of League One

That makes sense........

Big Bad Barry didn't do anything wrong on Tuesday night.

I agree - he made a big difference when he came on.

Sappleton needs a lot more time and experience - if he ever makes it at our level.

If SH doesn't make the Northampton game, I'd start with Barry in his place with ypung Rickeyyyy on the bench.

As for Dickov, thanks for the memories but the old adage about not going back seems to be very true in this case....

He compensates by being really big at the rear, though.

Anyway, I've said it before and until it happens I'll say it again, but Nige, please, give Ashley Chambers a go. OK, I'm biased, but he's scored regularly at every level he's played at, including England, and he's at least a more interesting option than Dickov at the moment.

Pearson obviously thinks he should be around the first team as he's been there all the times he's been fit (which haven't been many). But surely now that he is fit, it's the time to try it. I think it'd be more constructive to find out whether Ash is going to be any good, instead of just confirming that Dickov used to be...

I was hoping he would come on instead of Hayles against Brighton.
