"Most businesses treat thier customers like idiots, look at the energy firms, all quoting record profits, but the prices are still going up around 20%."

Well, that's unchallenged capitalism for you in its inexorable glory...

What does 'take this club forward' mean? Make more money? How can anyone pledge their heart to a soulless corporation (I accept the Japanese seem to be trying very hard in this area, but...)?

As the club appears to have gone to fairly extraordinary lengths to have material removed from low-circulation message boards, this has naturally increased the curiosity of those who would otherwise probably have not paid a great deal of attention. Therefore a public statement becomes reasonable.

It's a pig's ear whichever way you slice it.

As an FT member I would like to ask you to cut them a bit of slack here. I have helped them with fundraising in the past and my wife helps occasionaly in the broom cupboard that is their office with subscription renewals etc. For obvious reasons the FT is run on a shoestring. As far as I am aware all the Directors have full-time jobs. There is no one employed to monitor the boards and give instant replies.
It is quite possible that if the main board gave this woman operational 'carte blanche', the FT would not get to know what she was going to do before it was done!

So maybe they are finding out what she has done, and then maybe they will come back and tell us - when they get home from work and have fed and bathed their kids!

If those people who are criticising the trust think they can do better, maybe they should have stood for the board at the recent trust elections

Why should the right to criticise only be available to those who would want to take part in the leadership of an organisation that many people think is in any case of limited worth?

I do not know the 'creator' of this 'information' so do not know thier motives. Gossip about who we are going to sign really doesn't cause any harm, but when you are talking about gossip of a business nature I can see why the club have acted as they have. It can be seen in the same way as the club being held to ransom.

You have a point. However my issue is not with the club wishing to protect this info (in the short term). It's the content of the info that concerns me, deeply.

I agree Duzza, but I do think that some people have been a little 'over the top' with thier reactions to the subject.

Considering our recent history of mismanagement, I think it is very reasonable to be suspicious of this activity. It does not make sense to simply trust the club to 'do the right thing', they have no record of doing so.

I can see she has a great deal of experience to be making these decisions.

Duzza's link above sums it all up for me.

We're a football club who've just appointed a senior manager who doesn't know who one of the most media famous Englsih footballers of the last twenty years is.........?
What a complete lack of empathy that shows for what Leicester City Football Club is and stands for.
Can you honestly expect someone like that to understand the importance of The Birch or Fans Forum??
A truly awful signing/appointment to rank alongside some of the worst ever - worth starting a thread??

What has our current board done that is so wrong then?? :102:
Past boards have mismanaged greatly, this board have got the hardest job of them all, trying to keep our 'big club' mentality when in reality they have needed to start again. TD has gone above and beyond what he needs to do by being in contact with the fans, my only critisism is that we do not hear enough from our chairman.
IMO (and some might not like this) businesses need to make hard decisions to move on, keeping the 'nice old man in the corner that everybody likes and does a steady job' (this is no reference to Birch as I do see the benifit of getting rid of him, but more the other positions) may not move the company forward and may infact take it backwards.
Surely we have to trust them to 'do the right thing', they are the ones making the decisions, if you do not like it, win the lottery and buy the club yourself. But I bet there would be many hard choices you would need to make that you knew the fans would not like. Just think what you would do, if then before you did it, somebody told them what you were thinking of doing.:icon_eek:

May be different individuals but it's the same institution, bit like govt agencies really - faces change, s**t remains the same. My opinion on our current board is that they are responsible for a lot of the things that really bug me about our 'matchday experience' (that phrase rather being the point...) but I agree that they are relatively open and could be a lot worse. My main points are simply a) that with all our recent travails, how can we simply take ANYONE's competence and intentions on trust? and b) the club's actions appear to lend fuel to the rumours - if they were so risible why not just ignore them? I understand that TD has now emailed various people to say he knows nothing about any of it, which just seems to increase the murk. As for overreacting - I'm not about to riot but I'm intrigued to know what's going on and not overly impressed by the club's recent conduct. What's so strange about that?

Absolutely spot on PB, exactly my sentiments.

So you won't answer the question then?

I'm sorry but I did not realise that I had been asked a question. You have responded to something that I wrote as a comment to your response to another poster.

In the posting of mine which originated another thread I wrote that I had received a phone call which suggested that a 'head of department' had been suspended. I am not aware that the club has denied this.

spot on Boc................suspended not redundant, a massive difference.

There is more to this than meets the eye, IMO reading correspondance or quotes from any manager / spokesperson, make sure your read thoroughly the wording and terminology, also be careful to note "what they dont say" as well, before drawing conclusions, as there will usually be an escape route for that person to use, so they can confirm that they have not told a direct "untruth".

All I am saying is read very carefully any statements made by club officials or trust members.

I believe it is referred to as "spin".
