How would you describe yourself in three words?
Loyal, go-getter and (very) direct!
What is the best piece of advice ever given to you?
To always surround yourself with similar-minded people. To leave negative individuals behind you, hopefully the good ones change and join you, the rest usually fall out of the picture eventually.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your career so far?
A few years ago after being appointed as managing director of a Capital Radio station I threw Ian Wright out of the station for loitering in the corridor. I didn’t realise he was there for a sports interview and had no idea who he was! Fortunately he saw the funny side of it.
What has been your biggest regret?
I try not to have any...the ones I do have I’m not sharing! What’s the first thing you do when you get to work in the morning? Say good morning to as many people as possible. I hate the culture of going straight onto the e-mail system. I’m a morning person so I’m usually at my best first thing.
What is the most exciting aspect of your job?
Achieving the target, which usually means we’ve worked hard for the customer. I love nothing more than being surrounded by successful teams.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Having achieved all of my goals I hope to be in a hot country, content with my lot!
