It may of course be that they have decided that the ST discount (over single match tickets) is too much and a taking steps to reduce it. I doubt if they would leave the price altogether unchanged, but we could see a 'less than 10%' rise up to £24 per game (less than 5%, in fact).

You mention that the ST discount is relatively high at Leicester. I am sure you know that it was not always so. I had a ticket in the Carling Wing at Filbert Street for several years - the maximum saving over individual tickets was £5: that's £5 for the season, not per individual match! One season, the ST cost £8 more than the total of the individual matches - but people were happy to pay it to be sure of their seats in a relaively full stadium.

I had a fantastic seat 2 from the dug out, also got 25% discount because I said the roof of the dug out obstructed my veiw (balls!)
I would of paid double.

I don't know many who are worried about loosing their seats at the Walkers, mines crap!

Of course. That's why I said "the trend of recent years, making season tickets attractive by offering big saving".

I bought a season ticket in the Carling stand when it was first built, and I think it cost not much less than my season ticket last year.
The reason for buying a season ticket at that time was to make life easier, and reduce the risk of missing a match. Nothing to do with saving money.

Of course with the increased capacity of the Walkers Stadium, people are less likely to worry about not getting a ticket, so making them better value was a good way to encourage people to buy.

By making single match ticket so expensive they may be putting off casual fans, people who might for example go to half a dozen matches a season, people who can't afford a season ticket, and new fans who might be tempted to go to a few games.
Long term the club needs these supporters - potential season ticket buyers in future seasons, as much as it needs to retain current season ticket holders. So they need to do something to make match tickets more affordable to non season ticket holders, not just for one off specials, but for every match.

Was that when cup games were included though Bob?

I really fear we could be on the verge of losing the 'annual Wembley trip' generation of supporters. Those that came out of nowhere when we started going to Wembley and haven't really stopped.

Before that, there were only about 11,000 going. That stadium is going to seem awfully dead when it's only a third full.

The increase in ST prices from 1st June isn't a surprise. However, it's been handled really badly and the Mercury article and Aldridge quotes are dreadful.

Matchday ticket prices have to come down quite a bit to make any sense to most casual supporters. However, they won't (the sell for ST's already quotes the savings against matchday prices).

23,000 last season. How low will we go next season? Ultimately, if the crowds twindle due to fatal combination of apathy and disgust, what will happen to the club? Worrying times ahead.

The first three Cup games were included - but they were allowed for in my calculations.

i thought they were frozen until May 31st not gone down. Im confused.

CITY EAGER TO CLEAR UP TICKET CONFUSION

Leicester City today moved to clear up confusion over season-ticket prices for their next campaign.

It was thought the club were increasing prices from June 1 by 10 per cent, despite relegation to League One.

And yesterday's Mercury story led to many City fans criticising the club online at www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk .

However, City are in fact keeping their prices at this season's level, which means, for example, that a ticket for the Kop will cost £354.

The confusion arose from a City press release which stated season-tickets would rise by 10 per cent after the price freeze ended on May 31.

However, under their Early Bird scheme, City have reduced prices by 10 per cent for supporters buying their season tickets before May 31.

That discount will disappear from June 1, meaning prices will be the same as last season.

City chairman Milan Mandaric hopes the discount will encourage fans to sign up early for next season and help the club map out its challenge for promotion back to the Championship.

A City spokesman said: "It is correct that our discounted Early Bird price will come to an end on May 31 - but at this point prices will fall into line with what they were last season.

"We have tried to make our pricing structure easier for supporters to understand this year - and also placed a big incentive on fans securing their seats ahead of the deadline, as of previous seasons.

"Everyone who purchases their tickets ahead of the deadline will receive the discounted rate. Following May 31, the prices will increase by 10 per cent.

"We announced a price freeze and that is what supporters have got.

"Ahead of the deadline, all of our prices are as they were during the discount period last season. This also applies following the deadline."

The cheapest adult season-ticket is currently available from £275 and will rise to £303 from June 1. Adult tickets in the Kop and Marks Electrical Family Stand are priced £322 and will go up to £354 after the Early Bird deadline. City are also offering free season-tickets for under-eights in the Family Stand.

Supporters looking to purchase a season ticket for the first time, or who want to relocate to another seat, are advised to visit the Walkers Stadium ticket office from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm Sundays, telephone 0844 815 5000 or email:a href="mailto:[email protected]" class="lblue" [email protected] /a

Mercury: CITY EAGER TO CLEAR UP TICKET CONFUSION

This is caused by the bollocks of trying to compare two ticketing schemes which are not the same - shoddy work by the club and suggests that they have nobody who remembers what the position was last season.

There was no 'early-bird discount' last season - the club said that they didn't need one because they did not need to improve their cash-flow.

What the club should be doing is advertising the fact that some people can actually get a season ticket cheaper than they did last year (presuming same date of purchase) and admitting the fact that some people will have to pay more (presuming same date of purchase).

They should be explaining why people who pay by Direct Debit are paying £24 more during a "Price Freeze" - and also saying something that will convince people that it is a good idea not to actually reduce the prices when the football on offer will be of a lower level.

And I'm still waiting to see the prices for individual matches!!

Prices ARE going up.

According to that article, the cheapest adult ST, from June 1st, will be £303.

Last season I bought the same ticket at the last minute, and paid £275.

How can they call that a price freeze?

It's not the first time they've lied to us like this, it seems the new regime is as bad as Paul Mace was when it comes to telling porkies.

I bought mine last year for £322.

I can buy mine this year for £322 up until 31st May. That isn't a discount.

After that date I can renew for £350 somert, that isn't a freeze, it's an increase.

As Boc says, they're trying to compare two different pricing structures.

I don't think they're lying to us, I think they're fcuking stupid.

I renewed mine last year for £284 (I think) during the discount period, this year I can buy mine before 31/5 for £322, that isn't a freeze it's a hike.

If I'd have renewed mine after the deadline last year, it would have been £322, this year, it's £354, that's not a freeze, it's a hike.

I think the club needs to clarify it's own strtructure before it starts to try and explain it to the supporters

No. The £284 Kop ticket wasn't last year. That was the classic price with a 5% discount the season before last, i.e. 2006/07. Last year the same seat cost £322 before 15th June and £354 after. In other words, you can buy it at the same price this year as you could last year as long as you avoid the period between 1st June and 15th June.

This avoids any mention that this year's ticket will buy you first division football instead of Championship football of course!

The £275 tickets were the only ones last season which were not subject to dual pricing - they were a new idea to try to get rid of hard-to-sell seats. There is no price freeze on them, as you say - every one of them has gone up by just over 10%.

The club are lying through their teeth!

We're certainly not getting the "Season Ticket sales have just soared past the 137 mark" type of stories.

I reckon the prices wont go up, they saying they will to make people buy faster then MM will make himself look generous when he announces hes backtracked on the earlier decision to increase in june.
