You can always watch Two and a Half Men. That'll never, ever be cancelled.

Although it's not clear why.

If we are to completely jump the rails from the thread (which I am happy to do so), that show is a rather gruesome blemish on American television. But let me say this; between Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock and Community the Americans are catching up in terms of great comedy.

Add in some awesome dramas over the last 10 years (Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Sopranos) and it's a bit of a golden era for American television.

I hope Lloyd Dyer gets a game today.

I am just an old fogey, but I cannot get into American humour: not because it is or isn't good, but because it does not reflect my environment. I can enjoy people such as Rich Hall, who turns his humour upon British life.

Yes, I hope Dyer plays too.

True Blood, Breaking Bad & Sons of Anarchy ftw

I've lost interest in True Blood....Boardwalk Empire has been getting increasingly better over the last few weeks. Fringe, too, has developed really well.

For me, the three HBO shows Deadwood, Sopranos and The Wire are about as good as the medium gets.

Again, apologies for jumping completely off the thread rails.

I never got into the Wire or Deadwood.

What are Boardwalk and Fringe about?

Dyer isn't playing

Boardwalk is a 1920's prohibition thing. Steve Buscemi is the lead.

Fringe is a bit of an X-Files type show but with Pacey from Dawson's Creek (he's better in it than you would expect).

The Wire is a masterpiece.
