Tickets: 2,000 seats at £17 for adults and £10 for senior citizens & under 16s. Tickets bought at the ground on matchday will cost £1 more. On general sale now.

Directions:

Leave M1 at junction 34
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto A6178 [Sheffield Road] 1.2 mi
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto A6102 [Janson Street] 0.4 mi
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto A6102 0.7 mi
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto A6102 [Rushby Street] 1.4 mi
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto A6102 [Herries Road] 1.0 mi
Turn RIGHT (North-West) onto B6079 [Herries Road] 0.3 mi
At roundabout, take the SECOND exit onto B6079 [Leppings Lane] 0.3 mi

Alternative route - further but easier:
Leave the M1 at Junction 36 and take the A61 into Sheffield. After around 8 miles you'll see the ground on the right.

Parking: Some street parking and unofficial car parks. Check back here for info how to save money on parking.

Trains: Plenty of trains from Leicester to Sheffield (£18.40 return), but the station isn't within walking distance of the ground. The easiest way to get to Hillsborough from the station is by tram.
Tram info here: http://www.supertram.net/
The best tram stop for the ground is Leppings Lane

One thing I've done in the past is to leave the M1 at Meadowhall (J34) and park at Meadowhall station car park. It's free to park and you can get a direct tram from there to the ground.

Coach: Fox Travel coaches leave at 11:30, £13 adults and £11 concessions

Pubs: Anyone??

Or £15.50, if you buy a CDR to Derby for £7 and a CDR from Derby to Sheffield for £8.50.

Or £13.50, if you book the same tickets in two separate transactions on the Midland Main Line website and quote the discount code 'photo' on each occasion.

That leads to a redundant site. The Supertram site is now here. There are no return tickets on Supertram; buy a DayRider ticket for £2.70 which gives you a whole days unlimited travel.

The tram does tend to be quite slow, particularly on the journey back to the station after the game. It is usually cheaper and quicker to travel on one of the special buses which go from the other side of the station (the front) straight to the ground. They do however stop on the main road at the other side of the ground from the away turnstiles.

the norfolk arms and red lion on the a61 or the horse & jockey on wadsley lane is the designated away pub

The London Branch will be having a few sherberts at The Fat Cat - www.thefatcat.co.uk

London Branch (Megabus Section) will be taking soft drinks with them for the journey.

£2.25 return - London to Sheffield - BARGAIN!!!!

Post a map of where the fat cat is and more'll go.

the wadsley jack pub is supposed to be good for away fans and opens earlier than the others stated

webbo how far is meadowhall from hillsborough? if theres a tram direct to the ground do you know how often it is? and how much it costs? and if there are any after the game. may use that option as a m8 is driving the SYSTON branch.

Meadowhall and Leppings Lane are at opposite ends of the Yellow route. There is a £2.70 DayRider ticket which will cover the journey. Trams run every 10 minutes on that route; the journey is timetabled to take 35 minutes.

About 2½ miles.

I'm led to believe it is on the tram route, either way it's 50% of the way to the ground.

I'm just looking at Google Earth. It looks to be about ¼ mile away from the tram. I'm trying to find out the name of the stop. It's where the tram comes off Netherthorpe Road and turns onto Penistone Road. (hmmmm - wonder if that will get past the bad language checker thingee)

Any idea which stop?

It's either Netherthorpe Road or Shalesmoor. I'll let you know whan I am certain which.

Shalesmoor, definitely.

Map here. The arrow should be pointing to the pub in Alma Street.. Shalesmoor tram stop is at the junction of Netherthorpe Road and Penistone Road, just to the west.
