I say give him more time. Once the team has been together for a season or two, they will know each other completely, changing managers won't fdo very IMO. I know some people will be saying that we've already given him enough time, but he needs to make the team like a family.

Craig's only just signed a load of players, for three years too. IMO, we will get better and better after learning from days like yesterday.

Though i have to say, Maybury needs to control himself, and from what i heard on the radio De Vries missed a few decent chances. Also that QPR and the Ref were absoltue bollox, he had no control, made 8? bookings, one of which was for elvis takin of his shirt, although rules are rules, it was elvis' first goal in league footie. QPR time wasted, cheated, and just took the piss.
Ian Hollaway seemed kushti this mornin too.

I'm not happy at the moment, but I just can't see how things will get better with a change of manager.

Can it be any worse than the clueless performances we are seeing week in, week out???

Yes ;)

Been watching football for a while now and I've learnt...it can always get worse. :frown:

Tell me how, I genuinely need to know....

Best players leaving, relegation, that sort of thing.

If you're asking how it could specifically get worse with Levein's departure, this is how I could realistically see it going:

1. Financially - We'd have to pay out on the contracts of Levein and his backroom staff. We'd then have to offer a club compensation for taking their manager (assuming we're going to get anyone remotely as good as CL - I say that not because I think he's fantastic but because there are so many rubbish managers out there that anyone of CL's standard is in a job at the moment). We wouldn't have any money to spend in January and probably very little in the summer.

2. Players - Some would leave to go with Levein to his new club (whether that is good or bad I'll let you judge, probably people like Maybury, Kisnorbo, de Vries and Hamill - if the club he's at has any money, perhaps Hughes etc. - even if you think these players are rubbish it would leave our squad quite thin on the ground). Some players who don't leave might be unhappy with Levein going (Hughes is apparently a big fan of his) and so might either put in worse performances or snap the hand off of the first club that tries to sign them.

3. League Position - Again we'll say 'give the guy time', then after 12 months or so with even less money than Levein, probably worse players and a smaller squad, we'll ask why we aren't in the playoffs, we'll sack him again and the whole cycle will continue, only this time we can't afford to buy anyone else's manager so we have to pick up one of the out of work ones. John Gregory? Stan Ternant? Someone like that. And whether they do well or not, if they don't get us promoted the next year we'll say 'sack them' again, and so it will continue until we're in League One.

Ok, I admit, that is all a sort of dim view of it, I'd love to believe that if CL went MON would come back in, bring in some stars from the lower leagues and get us promoted via the playoffs... but I think what I've put above is the more realistic outcome of sacking Levein.

If he went then what/who do we replace him with. The likes of Gary Megson, maybe Micky Adams would want another go,who would want the job,who could we afford. All of us are frustrated, but what alternative do we have,he is trying to build a young side and as replaced ageing players, and all this on practically no budget.Even if he was sacked today,we would still have the same players

I agree but it's not reason to leave the guy in the job. Watford seem to have done well considering there are no managers worth having out there.....

Practically no budget = top six budget in the league.

I voted to keep him, 12 months is no time to judge a manager, who has had to practically rebuild a squad and try to rebuild the clubs outlook and strategy. He has also had to do this whilst reducing the clubs budget. We also have a number of players who are out injured or just returning from injury or are not fully fit, players like Gerrbrand, Hughes, Hume and Weso, all players who when fully fit and playing week in, week out will make a MASSIVE difference to the squad.

When will we learn from the mistakes made not only by ourselves but other clubs when it comes to hiring and firing of managers. Many clubs have gone to short term or quick fixes and have never recovered from making these knee jerk reactions. CL was the right man 5 or 6 weeks ago and although we are not having the best of times it certainly has not got to the panic proportions that many are contemplating.

Let the players bed in and let the injured players get back into the swing and we will be more than ok, be paitent and we will see the rewards.

You have some good points Durham, but surely the best time to judge the success of our manager against that of the Watford manager would be at the end of the season, and then if the situation is no better for us,then maybe more of us would support your line

The thing is, I really wanted Levein to succeed and still do but can anyone see light at the end of the tunnel? Can anyone see an end to the pathetic excuses? can anyone see an end to conceeding from set pieces? Can anyone see an end to picking players out of position? can anyone see an end to the first XI changing by the game?

If you can, PLEASE tell me, I am willing to be converted back!!!!!!

Durham I share your same concern, I would like Levein to do the biz as City Manager but its pathetic the work rate. Levein has begun to make excuses 'the ref, injures, tea lady'. However the money is not there to sack Levein, City's board love a 'Yes Man!' Someone who will follow them. Are finaicial situation isnt best, However dont great managers get good things out of players. This Long Ball tactic revived from the Adams days is lazy and a pile of shite. The players lack passion for club but have enough passion for themselves to get sent off after 20 minutes.

Basically its not the time for change, we cant afford a change and the players arent going to bed if there was a change.

Personally I think since Elsom left the board has been a shambles but we never going to get a say within the sacking of them.

Have to disagree, the board are solid and working within their constraints for the good of the club. Things have improved vastly since Elsom left in terms of financial control.

How can you list all those faults and follow it by saying it's not the time for change.

I am finished, had enough. I didn't want to be there yesterday, I wanted to leave after 20 minutes. I can't carry on watching that shite and the listening to the excuses afterwards.

Financial control maybe but overall control of the club, I beg to differ.

A mate of mine decided against going yesterday, he went to play a charity AMATEUR Pool Tournament, only for young professionals Mark Selby and Tom Ford turn up and say they would only donate half the winnings to charity if they won. Selby had just won £12,000 the week before.

Anyone who dont wanna see City play on Tuesday, I think Oadby have a FA Cup replay.
