For those who attended please give comments/ratings etc.

Goals were far too easy, probably wouldn't get too many of those sort of chances in the Championship. Hobbs' goal certainly wouldn't have happened in a league game.

Weale looked confident but honestly had very little to do.
Neilson looks comfortable in the side now.
Morrison and Hobbs dealt with what little threat there was in the Shrews attack.
Berner looked determined to take someone out.
Adams was superb, that's all there is to it.
Oakley was Oakley, which can never be a bad thing.
Wellens looked a lot better than Tuesday and is obviously a quality player.
Dyer was on top of his game and took his goals well.
Howard did his usual job.
I'm still not quite sure what N'Guessan does but he looks like he's got some good qualities. (Will he be used as a striker?)

Subs: Dickov did nothing, as per. O'Neill was on the left and looked okay. Tunch is still being eased in. King didn't do a lot. Gradel didn't even have time to put a ball in the river (I know that was the old ground but Max could have managed it).

I didn't see much of Wellens in the game tbh. Thought Oakley did a lot more than he did. Adams played very well, was involved in most of the good stuff. It shows that when you can't get into the first team, if you work hard and just get on with it, instead of being a miserable whinging tosser(DJ) you've got a better chance of being in NP's team.

I wasn't impressed at having to pay £15 for a friendly though....I don't think the locals were either seeing as hardly any turned up.

Yeah fifteen quid was clearly a piss take. And it wasn't just their fans who didn't turn up.

How did you not see much of Wellens? You were only a few rows in front of me and I saw loads of him.

Well obviously I 'saw' him. I just don't think he was as involved in the game as much as Oakley, maybe it's cos Oakley was involved in the build up for a couple of the goals and that sticks in my mind.

A lot of the play went through him but nothing really significant so yeah I see what you mean. Plus he made one mistake that nearly made him look very silly.

It was only a tenner for me.
:038:

Weale - Too difficult to tell. One smart claim and his kicking is ok.

Neilson - Surprised me. Kept it simple.
Berner - Not a fan really and got him 20 minutes to find his arse from his elbow.
Morrison - One point looked raw and then assured.
Hobbs - Good.

Adams - Clearly fighting for a place. Always liked him and hope it pays off.
Dyer - Good. Excellent volleyed lob
Wellens - Excellent footballer. His technique is superb and loved the attempted skill. Could be a hit
Oakley - Good.

Howard - Alright. Annoyed he didn't score at least once.
N'Guessan - Alright. Worked hard.

Subs - Tunchev feels off the pace, Dickov wasn't very good, O'Neill looks alright. The rest didn't get enough to give themselves a fair go.

We'll be lucky to get four goals so easy though in a league match.

Well said! He did play well, and he seems to have a positive attitude, unlike as you say DJ - I would add Sapleton and Hayes to the non-triers list as well.

Credit to Adams, and I suspect he might be the breakout player for us this season. It'd be great to have increased competition from a player aleady at the club and I can definitely see him getting his fair chance (like King last season).

Also, I saw Weale play at Tamworth and I have a slight concern about his kicking. He's left footed, which is fine (although players will tend to pass back to his right out of habit), but more troubling was his kicking seemed a bit short and he never kicked out of his hands.

I could simply be reading more into it than exists, but a keepers kicking ability seems important, and I have slight concerns from what I saw from Weale. How has he been in the other games in the kicking department?

I thought it was alright (although once he made a mess-up). Often didn't choose the launch forward and played it into someone's feet where at all possible. No kicking out of hands either.

Pretty much sums it up for me

I was impressed with Wellens, all 4 of our group thought he looked like a very good signing. I feel a lot more confident about the season ahead having seen him play on Saturday

I'm not sure that Morrison and Hobbs are the greatest of pairings, bit too similar, personally think we look better with one of these together with either Tunchev or Brown
