:018: I know we've all tried to forget Stephen Hughes but it was 4-1.

I was thinking of MON's last match at Hillsborough in 2000. Wednesday were already down and 11 random volunteers from the travelling fans would have done better than the team that day. 4-0 and we were lucky to get nil.

Still, we'd our highest finish for 25 years, Stan the man would be back leading the line next season, and we were no longer the yo-yo team. What could possibly go wrong?

My birthday. Remember coming back on the train thinking we'd go up a notch the next season to top 8/6 clubs in the country. MON pulling the strings, Collymore on back after the injury and £11 million in the bank after the Heskey sale plus a new stadium on the way :icon_sad:

It was the comment about the quality of the goals that threw me. If I recall correctly, in the 4-1 home defeat not a single goal was scored from inside the box.

Boro away has to be the worst out of those. 3-1 up into injury time and we concede one (as usual) then score and own goal. I remember Steve McClaren being interviewed afterwards being completely at a loss for what to say.

Also, the Villa 5-0 has to be considered from that season. Crouch (I think) putting in number 6 only to be found offside. Ah, happy days.

I thought the game was at Filbo, or did it happen twice?

They are all bad and as you can see from the post I have not let go yet. :icon_sad:

Nope.
Nope.

Go on, tell me you didn't enjoy that. :icon_roll

It was the 2 late goals conceeded against Boro that I was thinking of.
Sept 2001 Filbert St, winning 1 - 0 thanks to Matt Jones:icon_eek:
85th minute Ince then 88th minute Greening, meant defeat from the jaws of victory!

Just over 15,000 on a Tuesday evening were there.

I was there that day... :icon_cry:

Me too....

Terrible result, awful performance, but I was quite upbeat at the final whistle.

I suppose an 8th place Premier League finish, League Cup trophy in the cabinet and prospect of UEFA Cup football does that for you.

What would possibly go wrong? :icon_bigg :bang:
