Maybe

-------------Douglas---------------

----Maybury Paddy Johansson-----

-------------Kisnorbo--------------

Elvis---------Williams--------Hammill

------------- Hughes----------------

------------MDV----Connoly---------

Playing with 3 centre backs and filling the gap in the middle.

When defending Williams would cover the hole in the diamond for me. When attacking kisnorbo comes forward to cover that hole. I would like to think that my formation would stop Connoly from being to wide a majority of the time.

i think its important to show a little bit of faith with quite a young side which must still be gelling together so i wouldnt make loads of changes, i think putting maybury back in his rightful place has got to be done and i think sheehan might deserve a go at left back with wilcox in front of him. beyond that maybe a recall for de vries and id leave it at that

I tink we had 10+ corners againstLuton. We reall should score at least one from these ten We didn't even go close. But i really do think we'll Deomlish Hull tomorrow, well i hope we do.

Don't mind as long as we win!!

would be happy with a promising performance and not losing

well tiatto was brought in when wilcox was doing well, why? because he is captian. Right now I am glad he is injured and it gives wilcox another chance, when tiatto is fit again I like the left back suggestion and gilbert can be there as a sub. Obviously set peices need fixing, man marking on defense with 2 or 3 forward to keep it when we clear and counter, and for attacking set peices add some variance and use power, even drilled in low and fast has effectiveness.

drop dublin completely IMO.[/COLOR]

I'm with you, Lboro.

People go on about CL attempting to get us playing football, but whilst we persist in playing with Dublin up front, too often the easy option for the backline is to hoof it up to the big fella (see Crewe last week as the best/most recent example). Also, people slate MDV for not being able to head the ball, but if you actually study Dublin's game, how often does he really win a head when a defender is challenging with him..?

Hear, Hear we look awful when Dion plays up front, he should be used when we are chasing a game in the last 15 - 20 minutes and we need to mix things up a little. But when he starts the whole team pattern changes, the last two league games (Crewe and Luton), Dion has started and it has coincided with us playing with a more direct style, although against Crewe in the 2nd half we did resort to playing more football but on saturday we completely bypassed the midfield on too many occasions, and I agree that Dublin isnt that strong in the air, we gave away possession far too easily by resorting to playing the long diagonal ball which at best is a 50/50 pass. Our strength has been our passing game and whilst it has meant us being involved in very entertaining high scoring matches, it perhaps led CL to believe we were too open and that we needed to play "uglier" to win, hopefully after saturday this has been dispelled and CL realises we are not a hoofball team.

From now on it has to be Connolly starting with MDV,or at a push maybe Hammond, whilst De Vries is no 20 goal a season striker, he is a good team player, he encourages us to play football through midfield, he links superbly well with Connolly and has to be given some credit for the upturn in fortunes for DC. On saturday Connors, playing with Dublin, looked like the player under MA, no service, chasing long ball lost causes, and he even started to drift back out wide, he was a shadow of the player of recent months. We actually managed to nullify our own star striker !

Id like to see MDV playing just behind a strike partnership of DC and Hammond/ MDVs ability to hold up the ball and provide a half decent pass for the two strikers to run onto would provide some exciting opportunities up front.

Surely our main problem at the moment is conceding goals not scoring them though..

Of course it is. An average of 2 goals conceded is a sure sign that the defence is wobbly.

I'm quite surprised because I thought we would be quite strong defensively.

I think it will come with time. McCarthy carrying niggles, Maybury playing out of position can't be helping at present either.

Maybury playing out of position today didnt help in my opinion.

Hes playing out of position because the player he is replacing isnt match fit and up to the pace. It also allows stearman to play.
