I want to see Hume and Fryatt playing up front together again, but since COG scored and apparently played so well against Macclesfield then it seems only fair that he should keep his place. As long as it's not Elvis who plays though I'll be happy.

Weso didnt look 100% in my opinion, maybe better to bring him back slowly.

So I would play Hughes instead of Weso or Hume behind the front two

Southend should pose less of an attacking threat than most teams we encounter.

I would go with these 3 at the back. Leaving Williams, Johnson & Weso to provide the forward passes and centre runs & The two wingers for the crosses/wide runs

I would arrrange the bench to allow cover for this plan if it wasn't working

I did consider swapping Weso with Johnson, but his through ball for Fryatt against Ipswich put him there. I also think Johnson would suit this role has he is always looking to slit the defense with a through ball

I think Spencer Prior plays in the Southend 1st 11.

He picked up an injury against Sunderland and is unlikely to play.

This will be my first game of the season, I think it would be really interesting to bring on Hammond during the game and see what him and O'Grady are like together.
