The Mirror have given us a rave review, especially the impact that Cambiasso and Upson had on the Everton and Arsenal results...

Leicester City have enjoyed an impressive start to the new campaign despite a run of tough fixtures, holding Everton and Arsenal to draws at the King Power Stadium.

A big part of that is down to their new arrivals, with club-record signing Leonardo Ulloa off to a particularly impressive start for the Foxes , Matthew Upson helping to shore things up at the back and Esteban Cambiasso adding plenty of experience and glamour to the City squad.

I'm just disappointed that they've overlooked Bakayogo's impact.

:icon_lol:

Just shows how shit the reporting can be and how much attention they pay.

It seems we're likely to use the 4-2-3-1 system in most games. In no particular order, we've got more than enough competition for places:

Schmeichel
Simpson Wasyl Morgan Schlupp
Drinkwater James
Albrighton Nugent Knockaert
Ulloa

or

Hamer
De Laet Moore Upson Konchesky
Cambiasso King
Mahrez Powell Lawrence
Vardy

That leaves Hammond, GTF and Wood nowhere near the bench, let alone the first team. I guess they'll be out on loan sooner rather than later.

They are young enough to be put in the U21 list.

Can't see the second happening at all... Vardy is definitely not a lone striker and and I don't understand why Drinkwater would be left on the bench at the expense of Powell when he's been so good for us...

Vardy as a lone striker? Would anyone else on this forum do that by choice? Madness

Did you watch many games last season? In quite a few, Vardy was up front on his own with Nugent in the deeper role he has been playing this year too. He did very well on his own up there. His leap for headers is better than his height would suggest, he competes for the ball superbly, chases defenders down, brings wide men into the game, etc. He will be the first choice to play in that role if Ulloa isn't in the team. And quite right too. If you want to exploit his pace to the maximum, you play him on the opposition's last defender.

To get both Ulloa and Vardy into the starting line up, we'll either need to play two strikers (unlikely) or play him on the left of the three attacking midfielders, which is where he's played as sub so far. I get this, but it isn't the best use of him.

Overall, I'd bet that he plays more minutes of the season as a lone striker than anything else this season.
