Tunchev being given a squad number is quite positive, however it's not a normal number for a centre-back.

Do you reckon that DJ's is a self-chosen number?

Numbers based on positions are long gone. We have personal phones nowadays too, that don't need to be plugged in. We call them mobile phones.
We also have machines called computers, but I won't go into detail about them yet, I'll let you get used to squad numbers and mobile phones first

But when 6 is available, you would generally expect a centre-back to get that.

No I wouldn't, whatever made you think that?
I would never give it a second thought, not even a first one actually.

I used to be a centre-back and every season me and my friend (another centre-back) used to fight for the number 6.

And with the "possible" exception of number 10 (generally either a striker or midfielder), every other number in the first eleven would fit with position.

Andy King is being played out of position and Fryatt is just a gonna be warming the bench.

SOUSA OUT!!! He's obviously an idiot

Traditional squad numbers are different in different countries as tactics developed slightly differently.

i.e. from the old 2-3-5 formation when numbers went 2-11 going from right to left in defence, then right to left in midfield etc. Then the 2 defenders moved out wide so 2 and 3 became modern day full backs while the half backs . The inside forward moved back into midfield hence why 8 and 10 are midfield etc. etc. In other countries the formations and tactics developed differently so the squad numbers are slightly different.

Maybe #3 is just more traditional as a centre back to Sousa. I know Pique at Barca is a centre back with #3 for example.

Wasn't Tunch 3 before?

Has anyone really changed? All looks about the same to me. Only 'suprise' is how high DJ's number is.

No, he's been #5 for the past 2 seasons. Gallagher, Tunch and DJ are the only ones who's changed at first glance.

Leicester used a highly technical way to work out their numbering: they used Football Manager - it says on there that his favourite shirt number is 3. :)

Luke O'Neill not been given a number I see.
