As expected, JP confirms that Mendy replaces Benkovic in the PL squad:



With Ndidi back, I'd have him in central defence for the rest of Feb with Mendy alongside TIelemans and Dewsbury-Hall. It worked out well before and I trust them more than I do Choudhury or Amartey.

The more interesting decisions will be over the European squad. We have one place (Benkovic) and three players you'd expect to be in it who aren't at the moment - Mendy, Justin and Fofana.

Surely those three will be included so who will BR leave out? I hope it's Vardy and Evans (see previous comments on battering two injury prone old men that cannot play two games a week) but I don't suppose it will be.

S'okay, I was anticipating it. I nearly added to my post that it's not to do with talent but I realised that would have left the door further ajar. It's more about how the player plays, and attitude I guess. I don't think I can explain it really.

Sounds like the right decision - we've replaced a full back and a centre half with a better full back and a better centre half. Looking at the list of midfielders, I don't see one I'd drop for Mendy
