Thank the lord for that. Stephen Hughes is superb, he will sort us out, thank god for that - we actually looked quite good with him...We're on again.

There was one ball that he curled down the left that was absolute quality.I think it was for Hammond it was inch perfect with the outside of his boot, pure class.

If I was Williams I would be worried because Hughes will have his place when Tiatto's fit.

Yeh but Hughes wont play the season down the left. I think it worked very well in the stop gap but this guy needs to be playing in the middle to utilise him best and after one game he already looks alot better than Williams!!!

Agreed, however i have issues with Tiatto playing on the left, what we need this year is width for Hughes to tap in to... Tiatto will wander in to the middle all the time given the chance. I wonder about Tiatto and Hughes in the middle and Wilcox on the left until we can find a better left-sided midfielder.

I agree with you on Tiatto but we dont have alot of options. Tiatto does have a tendancy to wander so maybe that would be the best option. What ever happens Hughes needs to be in the middle. He will be a goal threat and create a lot for us.

Gutted by this comment from CL though:

Levein hailed the return of Stephen Hughes after injury, adding: "It was good to see someone of his quality back in the side.

"He had to go off because of a bit of cramp - so he may be a doubt for the game at Cardiff on Tuesday.

Come on Hughesy get fit we need you your mint!!

Yeah I know, my heart sank when I saw that, bloody nightmare.....How we need to have a run of him in the team.

Personally I'd keep Hughes on the left and keep Williams in the team as well. Having Tiatto on the wing makes the team more defensive, and I'd rather see Williams in the team than Tiatto, but Hughes has to be when fit.

Spot on there mate, fecking top quality!

He's what has been missing this season so far. Can't wait till he's 100%. The old problem will arise soon can he and Williams play together in the same line up. If Williams keeps disappearing during games he'll soon get the chop now the Hughes is back. Shame because I think they could give our midfield so much.

Hughes was good. As I have said elsewhere lets hope we can keep hold of him.

Come on Hughesy!!!

The way Craig likes to play with one side narrower, would allow Hughesy to play left hand side, but also allow him to drift in and influence the game, I actually think that he may be better suited to playing a little wider, because in the centre it can become a little congested and as yesterday proved if given a little time and space his range of passing can be devastating.

Also Williams is head and shoulders above Tiatto, yesterday it appeared as though Williams was drifting in and out of the game but that wasnt the case, it was just we had more quality around him so we had more options, it made it harder for Sheff Wed to stifle us, if they stopped Williams then there was Hughesy or Sylla to take it on, also we mixed up play well which meant Williams wasnt as involved.

We need to keep that midfield together, it is full of quality and gives us a variety of options.

I would keep Wiliams in the team alongside Hughes. Im going to be a little worried when the transfer window opens and the premiership sharks come circling for Hughes. He looked a different clas on the pitch today. I also thought Hume looked good for the short period he was on.

Ok, but would you keep Gudjonnson in there as well?

On present form I would, I think Joey has shown a marked improvement on his performances compared with last season, also as yet, we havent seen enough of Kisnorbo to see whether he would be the better option.

IMO with the return to fitness of Kisnorbo, the return of Weso when fit and now the decent form of Gudjonsson, we will have good options and competition for the defensive midfielder role.

i think the best thing to do is drop Tiatto as he doesn't fit into the system as well as the others. if anywhere, it should be left back where he plays. he doesn't suit the midfield. having hughes, Sylla & Williams in the team provides so many more options going forward.

Drop the captain CL, if you have the guts

I will be aboslutely furious if we sell Hughes.....That will really paint a bleak picture for our club.

Don't say that :icon_cry:. Connolly never really grew on me while he was here but Hughes has played just 19 games and already he's my favourite player, we can't do without him. If we sold him then I really would get depressed about our prospects.
