It would appear that part of the deal was an agreement that Everton will not try to sign Leicester players for a specified period (I don't know what that period is), so they will be unable to continue their attempts to sign Schmeichel.

Or they realised they had next to no chance of getting him anyway.

Everton’s search for a new first-choice goalkeeper will no longer include Kasper Schmeichel as a result of Steve Walsh’s arrival from Leicester City.
Walsh, the former assistant manager and head of recruitment of the Premier League champions, joined Everton as the club’s first director of football on Thursday. It is understood there is an agreement thatEverton will not sign players from Leicester for a specified period.

Schmeichel was one of several established keepers being considered by Ronald Koeman and had been linked with a £17m transfer to Goodison

Well if the agreement with Walsh ends after a year and we are background relegation battles, I can see a move for Kasper being reignited.

With a lot of other teams fighting for him.

They should have given him the managers job here at Leicester, and get rid of clueless
Never mind that, they should have sacked Peeson before xmas -14 and hired Pulis.

Either way they should sack clueless.
The quicker they get rid the more chance we have of avoiding relegation

Clueless Clownio, to give him his full official title
